Voltric Force LCW: the stiff middle racquet of Lee Chong Wei’s 2014 pink collection

The Force arrived in pink

Yonex’s international site listed a dark pink Voltric Force before it listed the black one. Its “LCW Limited Edition Gear” category, already showing nine products in its first archived capture on August 10, 2014, offered three racquets in Lee Chong Wei’s color: the Voltric Z-Force II LCW, this Voltric Force LCW (item VTFLCW) and the Voltric 1 LCW. The black standard Force is missing from Yonex’s Voltric list on December 31, 2014 and present on January 30, 2015, about five months later. Lee himself is documented on only one of the three, the Z-Force II LCW.

The black Force’s specification in dark pink

Yonex’s page for the Force LCW gives a stiff flex, a high-modulus graphite and tungsten frame, a high-modulus graphite shaft, 4U (average 83 g) with grip 4 or 5, dark pink and made in Taiwan. Yonex UK’s page for the black Force lists the same flex, materials, weight class and factory, so the pink frame is the Force in Lee’s color. Yonex summed up the Force as a “compact frame with TRI-iBUMPER for devastating smash power”, within Voltric’s Tri-Voltage System; the LCW page itself carries only the series overview. Yonex’s 2015 UK style-of-play map places the black Force high in the head-heavy half, and for the black model Yonex recommends 20–27 lb, above the 19–24 lb it gives the Voltric 1.

Lee Chong Wei’s initials, not his racquet

No Yonex source shows Lee Chong Wei, or any other player, with the Force LCW. Yonex’s launch release of August 7, 2014 named a single racquet for his World Championships campaign in Copenhagen, the Z-Force II LCW, and Yonex’s report from those championships lists him with it. Yonex USA’s own LCW page carried only that racquet, the shoes, a shirt and socks in both October 2014 and October 2015. Retail copy describes the pink Force as a design based on the Z-Force II, and some listings sell it as a version of his match racquet. Yonex said neither, though its 2015 stringing instructions put the Force in the same group as the Z-Force II.

Three pink racquets, one Force

Yonex documents the Force LCW only in dark pink. Its base model, the black Voltric Force (VT-F), reached Yonex’s list in January 2015 and has its own page. Yonex UK never showed a pink Force: its page at a “voltric-force-lcw” web address shows the black VTF. Within Lee’s collection the Force LCW sits between the Japan-made, extra-stiff 3U Z-Force II LCW and the Voltric 1 LCW, a 4U, Taiwan-made frame with a plain graphite shaft. A US retailer’s 2016 listing pairs it with a Lee Chong Wei “Exclusive” full cover; Yonex’s page mentions no cover.

On Yonex’s pages into 2016

Yonex’s page for the Force LCW is archived from November 22, 2014 to October 1, 2015, and the LCW category still listed it on January 4, 2016; by February 4, 2016 the category was gone. Yonex gave no production end. Shop stock outlasted the listing: a US retailer still offered new ones in September 2016. No Yonex Japan listing is documented; its only documented Yonex listing is on the international site. Listings shorten the name to “VTF LCW”, “VT-F LCW” or “Voltric Force Lee Chong Wei”. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Counterfeits and the “VTF” tangle

No counterfeit of the Force LCW is documented. The practical risk is buying the wrong racquet. “VTF” on its own can mean the Voltric Force or the original 2012 Voltric Z-Force, a Japan-made frame in bright green. In pink, the Voltric 1 LCW matches the Force LCW’s color, weight class and Taiwan origin; Yonex’s labels separate them by item code, flex (medium or flexible against stiff) and the high-modulus graphite of the Force’s frame and shaft. A 3U or Japan-marked pink frame with blue and gold detailing is the Z-Force II LCW.

The short-lived twin of a long-lived Voltric

The black Force stayed on Yonex’s Voltric list into 2020, while the pink edition was gone from Yonex’s pages by early 2016. That makes the Force LCW the short-lived half of a pair: the same stiff, Taiwan-made frame, listed for about seventeen months in the colors of Lee’s 2014 kit. In August 2015 Yonex moved Lee to the Duora 10, whose LCW editions followed.

Authentication

Check the item code VTFLCW and the Made in Taiwan mark. Yonex lists it in dark pink, 4U only (average 83 g), grip 4 or 5, stiff flex, with a high-modulus graphite and tungsten frame and a high-modulus graphite shaft. A black frame with the same specification is the standard Voltric Force (VT-F). A dark pink 4U frame rated medium or flexible, with a plain graphite shaft, is the Voltric 1 LCW (VT1LCW). A Japan marking or a 3U label on a pink frame with blue and gold means the Z-Force II LCW. Yonex’s own checks apply: a laser-engraved production code on the cone and a hologram sticker that resists lifting.

Outlook

A Lee Chong Wei collection piece built on the stiff, Taiwan-made Voltric Force, not a racquet he is documented using. Confirm the VTFLCW code, the 4U label and the Taiwan origin in photographs, and be wary of listings that call it his match racquet or a cut-down Z-Force II. The pink finish shows chips and touch-ups clearly, so ask for daylight photographs of the head, the T-joint and the cone, and look for cracks and repainting.
