The golden chapter: Voltric LD Force Premium Gold
The LD Force evolution
The LD Force was Yonex's attempt to evolve Lin Dan's signature platform beyond the Z-Force II without abandoning its DNA. The Premium Gold colorway, released in 2017, was the prestige tier of that lineup — Japan-made with NANOMETRIC DR frame construction and tungsten grommet technology, finished in a deep gold and black that communicated championship heritage without subtlety.
What NANOMETRIC DR changed
This was the racquet Lin Dan carried into the twilight of his singles career, as his focus shifted from all-out offence toward the intelligent, controlled aggression that defined his later style. The NANOMETRIC DR (Directional Resin) shaft technology stiffened the frame directionally, maintaining smash power while improving response on flat drives — a quiet engineering refinement suited to a player managing his body as much as dominating opponents.
The collector's gap
The Premium Gold sits in an interesting position: rarer than the Matte Black in terms of collector attention, less celebrated than the Legend Vision editions, it tends to be overlooked by generalist collectors while being essential for Lin Dan specialists building a complete series. Its current value of $668 has held flat — a stable, patient collector base rather than speculative demand. As the LD Force Matte Black approaches $2,000, the Premium Gold looks increasingly underpriced for the same racquet model.
Lacquered gold/black finish — warm metallic tone, distinct from the Matte Black's flat surface. 'LD Force' branding on shaft. NANOMETRIC DR designation. Made in Japan. Head-heavy, Extra Stiff. Weight 88g ±2g (3U).
Undervalued relative to the Matte Black. Represents the same final-era Lin Dan provenance at a $1,200 discount. Buy before the gap closes.
