Kento Momota

The Badminton Samurai

2014–2024 · Retired

World #1 · 2× World Champion · 11 titles in 2019

Racquets tracked

The most dominant singles player of the late 2010s. Momota's 11-title 2019 season is considered one of the greatest individual campaigns in badminton history. A near-fatal car accident in January 2020 altered his career trajectory, but his impact on the sport — and on the Astrox 99 franchise — is permanent.

His racquets before 2018 are not documented here. A widely repeated story that Yonex scouted him on a Voltric 80 at the 2011 All Japan Junior Championships has no Yonex or press source.
