ArcSaber 11 Play: the China-made, strung entry tier without the Pocketing Booster

The ArcSaber 11 for recreational players

The ArcSaber 11 Play (item code ARC11-PL) is the entry tier of the ArcSaber 11 that Yonex rebooted in 2022. It carries the name and the Grayish Pearl finish of the Japan-made Pro but little of its build: Yonex lists a plain graphite frame and shaft, a medium flex and a single weight, 4U. Yonex’s USA and UK stores sell it strung, describe it as “designed for recreational players” and give its player type as beginner. Yonex Taiwan gives its country of origin as China. Like the Tour, it is an export model: Yonex Japan’s release and its 2024–2026 catalogs cover only the Pro.

The reboot’s shape without its lining

Yonex announced the new ArcSaber 11 on January 6, 2022 in three models, Pro, Tour and Play, “each developed with the same performance concept but with variations in performance materials used,” for a global launch on February 25, 2022. The reboot’s headline technology, the Pocketing Booster lining at the frame top, is footnoted in that release as “PRO & TOUR models only.” The Play’s specification lists graphite for both frame and shaft, with no Super HMG, Ultra PE Fiber or joint line. Yonex’s 2024 USA catalog credits it with the Control-Assist Bumper, an isometric head, a box frame and a slim shaft, and Yonex lists a frame 10 mm longer than standard. Yonex’s USA and UK store copy still speaks of the Play’s “enhanced shuttle-pocketing,” wording it shares with the Tour; the release reserves the Pocketing Booster itself for the two upper tiers.

No named user

No professional is documented using the Play. The launch release named Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Aaron Chia as players of the new ArcSaber 11 without naming a tier; Chia’s 2022 world title and the family’s other tour results belong to the ArcSaber 11 Pro.

One gray, one weight

Yonex lists one finish, Grayish Pearl (color 764 on Yonex Taiwan), and one weight, 4U (average 83 g) with grips 5 or 6. The strung version sold by Yonex’s USA and UK stores carries the code ARC11-PLGE, in 4U with a G5 grip. The Pro (ARC11-P) and the Tour (ARC11-T) share the finish but are stiff, keep the Pocketing Booster and come in 3U as well as 4U; the Pro is made in Japan and the Tour, per Yonex Taiwan, in Taiwan. Each has its own page. No other color or edition of the Play is documented. The ArcSaber 7 Play, launched in August 2022, is a different, flexible racquet in Gray/Yellow, and the red ArcSaber 11 of 2013 is a different frame.

Sold strung, outside Japan

The Play is in current production. In October 2026 Yonex’s global site listed it “In stock” among nine ArcSaber models, with the three ArcSaber 7 tiers and the 2024 ArcSaber 2 Ability, Clear and Feel (which have their own pages), and Yonex Taiwan still carried it; Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog lists it. Yonex Japan’s online shop has no page for it, so a Play sold in Japan is an import; Yonex Japan’s own models below the Pro and Tour are the ArcSaber 3 and ArcSaber 1, on sale there since February 2023; each has its own page. Yonex has published no production end. No launch price is documented: the Yonex prices found for the Play are current ones, set years after its 2022 launch. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Same gray, different racquet

No counterfeit specific to the ArcSaber 11 Play is documented; the documented ArcSaber 11 fake is a 2013-type red frame. The likelier error is a tier mix-up. All three 2022 tiers wear Grayish Pearl, and a listing that says only “ArcSaber 11” could be any of them or the 2013 original. A stiff frame, a 3U, or a PRO or TOUR print is not a Play, and a Grayish Pearl frame offered as Japan-made is a Pro.

The ArcSaber 11 name at entry level

The Play is the ArcSaber 11 reduced to its concept and its paint: the reboot’s name and Grayish Pearl on a medium-flex graphite racquet for recreational players, built in China and sold strung. It has no documented player, special edition or second color, and as of October 2026 it remains on sale new. A documented production end or a later color would be the first facts to date one.

Authentication

Check the tier first. The Play is printed ARCSABER 11 PLAY, item code ARC11-PL (ARC11-PLGE for the strung version on Yonex’s USA and UK stores and on Yonex Taiwan’s images), in Grayish Pearl. Yonex lists medium flex, graphite frame and shaft, a frame 10 mm longer than standard and one weight, 4U (average 83 g, grips 5–6). Yonex USA, Yonex UK and Yonex Taiwan give an even balance, and Yonex Taiwan gives China as the origin. A stiff Grayish Pearl frame, a 3U, or a PRO or TOUR print means a higher tier; a red ArcSaber 11 is the 2013 original. Yonex’s general test is the hologram sticker, which should resist lifting with a fingernail.

Outlook

A current entry-level racquet, usually bought new and strung. Yonex recommends 19–27 lb. For a used frame, confirm the PLAY print and the ARC11-PL code, and ask for photos of the weight label and of the head and frame-shaft joint, where cracks show. A listing that leans on Aaron Chia’s or Sapsiree Taerattanachai’s results is describing the Pro, not the Play.
