The all-court Armortec: AT-500
Bridging the range
The AT-500 was Yonex's true all-court Armortec — Japan-made, stiff-flex, with construction quality approaching the flagship tier. It bridged the gap between the Taiwan-made consumer models and the elite AT-700/900, finding a loyal following among intermediate club players who wanted genuine performance without the uncompromising demands of the flagships.
Japan-made step-up
HM Graphite and gForce Ti in both frame and shaft gave the AT-500 a meaningfully more explosive smash response than the AT-300. The even balance made it genuinely versatile across the court, and the stiff shaft rewarded players with clean technique — the first Armortec that genuinely differentiates good timing from poor timing.
Who it's for
Intermediate all-court players who want vintage Armortec power with Japan-made construction. The AT-500 is the dividing line in the standard Armortec range — below it is Taiwan-made consumer tier; above it is Japan-made performance. Its stiff flex makes it the first Armortec that rewards advanced technique.
AT-500 designation on shaft. Stiff flex, even balance. HM Graphite + gForce Ti. Made in Japan. Standard Yonex hologram consistent with 2006 era.
No tracked price. The first Japan-made tier in the standard Armortec lineup — meaningful step-up from the Taiwan entry models.
