The technique variant: Taufik Hidayat's Armortec 900
Built for a different kind of player
When Yonex co-released the AT-900 in two variants in 2007, the naming was deliberate: Power for Lee Chong Wei, Technique for Taufik Hidayat. The 900T has an even balance and a stiff (not extra stiff) shaft — a racquet tuned for precision over force. Taufik's game demanded that the racquet get out of the way and let his hands do the work.
The context: Taufik's final power chapter
By 2007, Taufik's dominance was fading. He had won the 2004 Athens Olympic gold and the 2005 World Championship, but a new generation was arriving. The AT-900T was his weapon during these final years of elite relevance, before he transitioned to the ArcSaber 10 — the racquet that became his true legacy instrument.
The collector position
The AT-900T occupies an interesting middle position. It is less valuable than the ARC-10LTH Legend Vision tribute ($1,068), less famous than the ARC-10 itself ($540), but it completes the full Taufik timeline. In Indonesian collector markets, the 900T commands cultural recognition that Western pricing does not capture.
'Technique' variant label on shaft — not 'Power'. Even balance point — different hang behavior from the 900P. Stiff (not Extra Stiff) shaft. Made in Japan. Standard Yonex hologram.
Best acquired as part of a Taufik timeline collection. Start with the ARC-10 if choosing one entry point; add the AT-900T for completeness.
