The rise, the fall, and the legend of Kento Momota

The 2019 season

11 BWF World Tour titles in a single season. World Championships. First Japanese man to win the All England in 120 years. Throughout all of it, the Astrox 99 Sunshine Orange was in his hand.

January 13, 2020

The morning after his 12th title in thirteen months, Momota's van hit a truck. His driver was killed. Momota required eye surgery. The Sunshine Orange became a frozen-in-time artifact from the last moment before everything changed.

Sunshine Orange vs Sapphire Navy

The orange commands a 20-30% premium. Identical specs — pure narrative premium. The orange is the version from the campaign, the promos, the mental image of 'Momota's racquet.' That's what separates collectibles from discontinued products.

Authentication

Deep, rich matte orange — not bright or neon. '10mm longer' on shaft. Full-frame Namd branding precise.

Outlook

If Momota's 2019 is spoken of like Bradman's average, the Sunshine Orange will appreciate indefinitely.
