Second-generation smash weapon: Astrox 99 Pro

The post-Momota Astrox 99

The AX-99 Pro is the 2021 second-generation successor to Kento Momota's era-defining Astrox 99, rebuilt with Volume Cut Resin and current NAMD while shifting to a medium flex — a deliberate adjustment making the AX-99's head-heavy smash capability more accessible than the demanding 1st Gen. Japan-made, with Momota and rising star Naraoka Kodai as associated players.

Medium flex, unchanged power brief

The medium flex on the AX-99 Pro lowers the technical barrier of the 1st Gen's stiffer platform while retaining the head-heavy balance and NAMD's explosive shaft snap. Players who found the 1st Gen too unforgiving will find the Pro version delivers the same rear-court smash authority with a wider margin for mistimed shots.

Who it's for

Advanced and competitive players who want AX-99 power in a slightly more accessible package. The AX-99 Pro's association with Naraoka Kodai — among the best young smashers on tour — confirms its competitive relevance at the highest level.
