Nanospeed 200: the flexible, Blue middle step of Yonex’s Taiwan-made Nanospeeds
The middle of a three-step line
The Nanospeed 200 was the middle of three Taiwan-made Nanospeeds that Yonex added to its international (export) list in March 2009. It shared the Aro-Box Vari Frame with the Nanospeed 300 above it and the flexible shaft rating with the Nanospeed 100 below it. Yonex named no player for it and printed no price, and no Yonex Japan listing of it is known.
Same frame materials, softer flex
Yonex gives no launch date. The 200 first appears on its export Nanospeed list in mid-March 2009, tagged “New!!” with the 300, the 100 and the new 9900; the list as it stood on 9 March did not yet show it, so 2009 is the year it was first documented. Yonex listed a graphite frame, a shaft of graphite and carbon nanotube, Flexible flex and one weight class, 3U (85.0–89.9 g), with grips G3–G5, made in Taiwan. The technology line named Isometric, the Aro-Box Vari Frame and the built-in T-joint, and in 2009 also Cup Stack Carbon Nanotube and Nanoscience. Yonex gave no balance for it.
No player on record
Yonex’s list pages name no player for the Nanospeed 200, and no Yonex tournament report or staff page connecting a player to it is known. Yonex printed no level wording for it.
One listed design
Unlike the 300 and the 100, the 200 never carried a “New Design” tag. Yonex printed its color, Blue, from April 2010, when the list began showing colors; the earlier listing gave none. Against the 300 it is Flexible rather than Medium and listed without the Shockless Grommet; against the 100 it adds the Aro-Box Vari Frame. The Nanospeed 2000 is a separate, Japan-made model; each has its own page.
On the export list to mid-2011
The 200 was an export model: Yonex’s international site listed it, and Yonex China’s racquet list also named it. It was last on the international list in June 2011, shortly before Yonex replaced the list with a link to its 2011 digital catalog, which does not show the 200. With no production end stated, 2011 is the last year it is documented on sale new. No verified sales are recorded yet.
A question of identity
No counterfeit of the Nanospeed 200 is documented. The practical risk is a mix-up with the Blue Nanospeed 500 of 2010 and the Japan-made Nanospeed 2000, or with the 300 and 100 that shared its graphite frame.
A footnote between two siblings
The 200 is the least distinctive of the Taiwan-made trio: one listed design, one color, and a specification that sits between the 300’s Medium flex and the 100’s plainer frame. For a collector it is a documented export model with no player connection.
Yonex listed the Nanospeed 200 as Flexible, 3U (85.0–89.9 g) with grips G3, G4 or G5, made in Taiwan, with a graphite frame and a graphite and carbon-nanotube shaft. Its listed technologies were Isometric, the Aro-Box Vari Frame and the built-in T-joint; no Shockless Grommet. Its listed color is Blue. Yonex gave no balance or string-tension range. A Medium-flex frame is more likely the 300 or 500, and a 2000 marking means the Nanospeed 2000, a Japan-made model.
Check the item code before the color: the 200 and the 2010 Nanospeed 500 were both listed in Blue. Inspect the head, the T-joint and the grommets for cracks and wear, as with any frame of this age. Yonex documents no player or edition of the 200, so treat a tour connection in a listing as unproven.
