ArcSaber 1: Yonex Japan’s even-balance entry ArcSaber, made in Taiwan since 2023

The bottom rung of Yonex Japan’s ArcSaber line

The ArcSaber 1 (item code ARC1) is the lowest model in Yonex Japan’s ArcSaber range. Yonex Japan put it on sale in early February 2023, together with the ArcSaber 3 and the Nanoflare 300, and described it as “an easy-handling entry model with an even balance,” built for shuttle control and easy power (シャトルコントロールと楽な飛びを追求). It is a full-size 4U racquet, made in Taiwan and sold in Japan as a frame only, at ¥13,200 including tax at launch. Yonex Japan still lists it in 2026.

Carbon, a Pocketing Booster and no Ultra PE

At launch Yonex listed a carbon frame with the Pocketing Booster, a carbon shaft and a built-in T-joint with T-Anchor; its current online-shop page lists high-strength carbon in the frame. The product page also names the box-shaped frame, a Super Slim Shaft and the E.B. Cap Plus, and marks the racquet 10 mm longer than standard. Yonex prints no flex rating. The balance is Yonex’s own word, even, and the gauge in its 2024–2026 Japanese catalogs sits on the even mark. Yonex recommends 17–22 lb.

Made for beginners, with no named user

No player is documented using the ArcSaber 1. Yonex Japan’s level chart gives it the top mark (◎) for beginners, men and women, and a lower mark (○) for intermediate men only, leaving the advanced column blank. It carries the Japan Badminton Association’s approval; the association’s list first included the ARC1 in August 2022, about six months before it reached shops.

One color, and the ArcSaber 3 beside it

Yonex has sold the ArcSaber 1 in one color, Magenta (マゼンダ), with no limited edition. Its launch partner, the ArcSaber 3, is the step up: cyan, made in Japan, with high-strength carbon in the frame, Ultra PE Fiber in the shaft and Yonex’s “Enhanced ArcSaber Frame” description; it has its own page. Above both on Yonex Japan’s list sit the ArcSaber 7 Tour and the Japan-made 7 Pro and 11 Pro. Outside Japan, Yonex’s global site lists different entry ArcSabers, the ArcSaber 2 Ability, Clear and Feel, and not the ArcSaber 1; each has its own page.

Still on Yonex Japan’s list

The ArcSaber 1 is in production. It appeared on Yonex Japan’s racquet list in February 2023, is on its 2024, 2025 and 2026 catalog spec charts, and was still on the list in Magenta on October 8, 2026, beside the ArcSaber 11 Pro, 7 Pro, 7 Tour and 3. Yonex Japan’s price notice of December 2023 set ¥14,300 including tax from January 2024. It is a Japan-only model: no Yonex USA catalog or list on Yonex’s global site carries it, so outside Japan it turns up as an import. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Name confusion, not fakes

No counterfeit of the ArcSaber 1 is documented. The likelier confusion is with racquets sharing the name: some retail listings outside Japan use “ArcSaber 1” for strung 5U racquets in other colors, made in China, which Yonex does not document and which differ from this model in weight class, origin and finish. The ArcSaber 3 FL (ARC3FL), whose production Yonex Japan ended in 2012, and the 2023 ArcSaber 3 are separate models; each has its own page.

A practical first ArcSaber

The ArcSaber 1 fills a place Yonex Japan opened in 2023: an even-balance ArcSaber for players starting out, at the bottom of the range. It is a standard racquet in one color, with no limited edition and no documented player, so its interest is practical rather than collectible. Yonex has announced no successor.

Authentication

Yonex’s item code is ARC1. Check for the Magenta finish, a 4U label (average 83 g) with grip 5 or 6, the 10 mm longer marking and the Pocketing Booster; Yonex Japan gives Taiwan as the country of origin. Yonex lists carbon in the frame and shaft, a built-in T-joint and T-Anchor, and no Ultra PE Fiber. Yonex Japan’s dedicated grommet set for it is AC416ACG, and it was sold with a case. A cyan frame coded ARC3 and made in Japan is the ArcSaber 3. A strung 5U racquet in red, blue or black sold as an “ArcSaber 1” is not this model, and the export ArcSaber 2 Ability, Clear and Feel (ARC2A, ARC2C, ARC2F: Hi-Flex, made in China) are different models; each has its own page.

Outlook

This is a current racquet, so most buyers will find it new in Japan or as an import. Yonex recommends 17–22 lb and suggests Exbolt 65 for hard hitters and BG65 Titanium for control players. For a used frame, confirm the ARC1 code and the Magenta finish, and ask for daylight photographs of the head, the shaft markings and the frame-shaft joint. Its interest is as Yonex Japan’s beginner ArcSaber, not any professional record.
