ArcSaber 10 Legend Vision Peter Gade: a tribute that echoes his 2010 edition
A tribute that echoes the original
For Peter Gade’s Legend Vision edition, Yonex dressed the ArcSaber 10 in a look very close to his own 2010 signature frame: white, with champagne gold running through the head. The result is a tribute that closely resembles the racquet it commemorates, and that is the defining fact about the ARC10LPG for a collector. It is a genuine Legend Vision piece, on sale by late 2016 with a full-length cover printed with the program’s four founding legends. In a listing photo, though, it can pass for the 2010 ArcSaber 10 Peter Gade, and the reverse is also true. The placement of Gade’s signature is the quickest way to tell them apart.
The frame underneath
The ArcSaber 10 arrived in 2008 as the flagship of the ArcSaber line, which Yonex had launched a year earlier around a frame that flexes at impact and holds the shuttle on the strings a fraction longer. It left the Japanese catalog in 2012, was succeeded by the ArcSaber 11 in 2013, and returned for the Legends’ Vision program. Retail specifications for the Gade edition match the original: a high-modulus graphite head with CS Carbon Nanotube and Super HMG, a graphite and Ultra PEF shaft, even balance, a stiff flex, 3U at 85–89g, 19–24 lb tension and Made in Japan. Nothing documented suggests the tribute changes how the frame plays.
Gade’s career
Peter Gade was a former world No. 1, the 1999 All England champion and, by Yonex’s count, a five-time European singles champion. He won five World Championships medals, including silver in 2001, without taking the title, and played four Olympic Games without a medal. Commonly cited equipment lists put him on the red ArcSaber 10 from 2008 and on his white-and-gold ArcSaber 10 Peter Gade from 2010 into 2011, the seasons of his 2009 Korea Open win over Lee Chong Wei and his world bronzes in 2010 and 2011. No primary source ties a particular result to a particular frame. He moved to the Voltric 80 in May 2011 and the Voltric Z-Force in 2012, retired that December, and in March 2015 was one of the four players who launched the Legends’ Vision program.
Telling the two Gade ArcSabers apart
The ArcSaber 10 family runs from the red 2008 original through the 2010 Peter Gade edition (ARC10PG), a mostly black 2012 Premium, the Legend Vision pair, the 2018 Pearl White and the red ArcSaber 10 N. Two of them are white-and-gold Gade frames. A Japanese owner who documented the 2010 edition in 2012 described Gade’s signature in red at the lower right of the head, with PETER GADE printed on the shaft. Photographs of the Legend Vision edition, including a review video posted in December 2016, show the signature printed in black on the shaft directly below the ArcSaber 10 logo, followed by his name. The Legend Vision frame came with a full-length black cover printed with Taufik Hidayat, Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Gade. Its companion is the red Legend Vision Taufik.
Rarely traded
No verified sale of the Legend Vision Peter Gade has been recorded yet. Legend Vision ArcSaber 10s seldom appear in completed sales at all, and the figures that circulate for this edition are asking prices, which differ widely from seller to seller and say nothing about what a buyer paid. Yonex has never published a production figure for it, so a quoted unit count is not evidence of scarcity. Identification is the other obstacle to any valuation. A white-and-gold “ArcSaber 10 Peter Gade” listing can be either Gade edition, and a sale of one should not be read as a price for the other.
Mix-ups and fakes
Counterfeit ArcSaber 10s have circulated for years, and coach Paul Stewart’s review of the model warns of many on eBay. The Gade tribute’s particular risk is confusion with the 2010 edition. A genuine 2010 PG listed as the Legend Vision edition, or a Legend Vision frame stripped of its cover and sold as a PG, is not a counterfeit, but the buyer is not getting the edition described. The full-length cover is the most easily separated part of the set and the one most worth confirming. Beyond that, the usual Yonex checks apply, and the frame should be compared with photographs of known genuine examples of this specific edition.
The last Gade ArcSaber
Gade’s name appears on at least three Yonex frames: the 2010 ArcSaber 10 Peter Gade from his playing years, the all-white Voltric 80 Peter Gade made for his December 2012 farewell, and this Legend Vision ArcSaber 10. The tribute is the only one of the three issued after his retirement and the only one tied to the Legends’ Vision program, which Yonex marked as a decade old at the 2025 All England. Within that program it shares its frame with Taufik Hidayat’s edition, while Lin Dan’s and Lee Chong Wei’s went on the Voltric Z-Force II and the Duora 10. In a Gade collection it pairs with the 2010 edition: one is the period piece, the other the formal tribute.
Retail specifications list Made in Japan, 3U at 85–89g unstrung, even balance and a stiff shaft; no Yonex specification for the edition has been found. On this edition Gade’s signature is printed in black on the shaft below the ArcSaber 10 logo; a red signature on the lower right of the head marks the 2010 Peter Gade edition instead. A complete set includes the full-length black Legends’ Vision cover printed with the four founding legends. The serial number should be laser-engraved, not only printed. The hologram should be hard to peel off, and the butt cap should be Yonex’s green with a clean, well-defined O in YONEX; fakes often make it wide and round. Ask for clear photographs of each of these before paying for the edition.
Treat identification as the first purchase decision. A listing should show the shaft signature, the serial codes, the hologram and the Legends’ Vision cover; without them, assume it may be a 2010 PG or an ordinary ArcSaber 10 until shown otherwise. Collectors completing the Legend Vision set will want it alongside the red Taufik edition. Buyers who value the playing era may prefer the 2010 edition, and players after the feel can use any ArcSaber 10.
