Astrox 01 Clear: a Hi-Flex graphite starter that differs from its twins only in color
The Clear of the three
The Astrox 01 Clear (item code AX01C) is the middle name of Yonex’s three Astrox 01 starters, between the Astrox 01 Ability and the Astrox 01 Feel. Yonex documents no difference among them beyond the name and the colors: all three are Hi-Flex, with a graphite frame and shaft, 10 mm longer than standard, 4U at an average 83 g, with 20–28 lb string advice. The Clear has been sold in Black / Red, Blue and Black / Blue. Yonex does not explain what “Clear” stands for.
Graphite, Hi-Flex, one weight
Yonex’s global site carried a product page for the Clear by May 2021, the earliest Yonex record of it; no launch announcement or on-sale date is documented, so 2021 is the year Yonex first documented it. Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog lists five technologies for it: the Isometric head shape, the Rotational Generator System, the AERO+BOX Frame, a slim shaft and the Control Support Cap. Yonex Taiwan gives China as the country of manufacture.
No named player
No player is documented using the Astrox 01 Clear. Yonex Taiwan’s product page shows a block of Yonex athletes, as its other racquet pages do, without saying that any of them use it.
Black, red and blue
Yonex’s global page showed the Clear in Black / Red in 2021 and in Blue by late 2022; Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog prints Blue, Yonex Taiwan Black / Blue, and the global site now lists Black / Blue and Blue. All are 4U. The Astrox 01 Ability and Astrox 01 Feel share the specification; each has its own page. The Astrox 02 Clear, marked NEW in Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog in Royal Blue, is a different frame with an HT Graphite build and 20–30 lb advice, and the Nanoflare 001 Clear is a Nanoflare.
Sold outside Japan
The Clear is current. Yonex’s global site showed it in stock on its Astrox list in October 2026, Yonex Taiwan lists it, and Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog included it, without the NEW tag it gave the Astrox 02s. It is absent from Yonex USA’s 2021 catalog and from Yonex Japan’s 2024–2026 catalogs, so it is an export model, although the Japan Badminton Association’s 2025 lists of approved racquets include the AX01C. No production end is documented. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Blue frames and shop copy
No counterfeit of the Astrox 01 Clear is documented. The likelier mix-up is with the blue Astrox 02 Clear, which carries the same name with a different number. Shop listings also give the 01 balance points and stiffness grades that no Yonex page prints, and the “Head Heavy Balance” field on Yonex Taiwan’s page is the one Yonex prints across the Astrox series, not a measurement of this model.
Choosing among the 01s
The Clear is a current, mass-produced starter with no documented player, edition or production end. With one Yonex specification for the three 01s, choosing the Clear is choosing its color.
Yonex’s item code is AX01C, and Yonex names it “ASTROX 01 CLEAR.” Yonex documents Hi-Flex, a graphite frame and graphite shaft, 10 mm extra length, 4U (average 83 g) with a G4 or G5 grip, and recommends 20–28 lb. Its documented colors are Black / Red, Blue and Black / Blue. Yonex Taiwan gives China as the country of manufacture. A Royal Blue frame coded AX02C is the Astrox 02 Clear, and a frame sold as an Astrox 01 Clear in another weight class or with a stiff shaft does not match any Yonex listing.
A current racquet, usually bought new as a first racquet. Because the Astrox 01, Astrox 02 and Nanoflare 001 lines all use the name Clear, check the item code on the frame (AX01C) rather than the name alone. Balance points, stiffness grades and countries of manufacture quoted by shops are not Yonex’s; Yonex prints Hi-Flex and 4U.
