Astrox 02 Clear: a Hi-Flex HT graphite starter, one of three named Astrox 02s
One of three named Astrox 02s
The Astrox 02 Clear (item code AX02C) is one of three Astrox 02 racquets that Yonex sells under separate names and codes: Ability, Clear and Feel. Yonex prints the same specification for all three, a Hi-Flex HT graphite frame on a graphite shaft, 10 mm longer, in 4U, so what sets the Clear apart on Yonex’s pages is its name, its code and its colors, Royal Blue and White / Blue. Yonex does not say what the three names stand for. Its blue paint sets it apart from the Ability’s red and the Feel’s turquoise; the older Astrox 01 Clear is also blue.
HT graphite, Hi-Flex, 10 mm longer
Yonex’s global product page lists Flex Hi-Flex, an HT Graphite frame, a Graphite shaft, a length 10 mm longer than standard, 4U (83 g average) with G4 or G5 grips, string advice of 20–30 lb, and Made In China. Yonex Taiwan’s page for it also prints China in its 產地 (origin) field and a suggested price of NT$3,000. Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog prints the same figures and five technologies: the Isometric head shape, the Rotational Generator System, a box frame, a slim shaft and the TFA Cap Plus, a butt cap Yonex says adds shaft flex and absorbs vibration. Yonex Far East’s page names an Aero+Box frame in place of the box frame. Yonex Taiwan’s “Head Heavy Balance” field is the one it prints across its Astrox pages, so no balance specific to this frame is documented.
No named player
No player is documented using the Astrox 02 Clear. Yonex’s pages recommend strings for it (Nanogy 98 for control players, Nanogy 95 for hard hitters) but name no athlete. The player photographs on Yonex Taiwan’s product page are the site’s standard athlete links, not a record of use.
Two colors and five relatives
Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog shows the Clear in Royal Blue; Yonex’s global site lists it in White / Blue and in Royal Blue. Its siblings, the Astrox 02 Ability and Feel, have the same frame, shaft, weight and string advice in Red or White / Pink and Turquoise or White / Green; each has its own page. The older Astrox 01 Clear, on Yonex’s global site since 2021, keeps the name, Hi-Flex, 4U and the extra 10 mm, but Yonex lists a plain graphite frame and 20–28 lb string advice, in Black / Blue and Blue; it has its own page, as do the 01 family’s other two members.
An export starter on Yonex’s global site
The Astrox 02 Clear is current: Yonex’s global site lists it in stock in 2026, and Yonex Far East lists it too. Yonex has published no launch date. Its earliest Yonex record is Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog, where all three Astrox 02s are marked NEW, and Yonex’s global site had a product page for it by April 2025. None of Yonex Japan’s 2024–2026 catalogs lists it, so it is an export model. The Clear (AX02C) is on the Japan Badminton Association’s 2025 lists of approved racquets, with the Ability; the Feel is not. No verified sales are recorded yet.
The number decides
No counterfeit of the Astrox 02 Clear is documented. The likelier mix-ups are with its namesakes. The Astrox 02 Ability and Feel share its specification and differ in name and paint, and the Astrox 01 Clear shares its name. The AX02C code and the “02” on the frame identify it. A listing that credits it with Namd graphite, a stiff shaft or a weight other than 4U is quoting Astrox series copy, not Yonex’s specification for this model.
A first Astrox
The Astrox 02 Clear is a mass-produced entry racquet with no documented player, edition or production end. Its interest lies in the naming: Yonex sells one Hi-Flex frame under three names, and uses the same three names for the Astrox 01 family.
Yonex’s item code is AX02C. Yonex documents a Hi-Flex HT graphite frame with a graphite shaft, 10 mm extra length, 4U (83 g average) with a G4 or G5 grip, Made in China, and recommends 20–30 lb. Colors: Royal Blue (Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog) and White / Blue (Yonex’s global site). A frame marked 01 is the Astrox 01 Clear (plain graphite frame, 20–28 lb); an 02 in Red, White / Pink, Turquoise or White / Green is the Ability or the Feel. Yonex documents no balance specific to this model, so a balance point quoted in a listing cannot be checked against a Yonex record.
A current racquet, usually bought new as a first racquet. For a used one, check the AX02C code, the 02 on the frame, the 4U label and Royal Blue or White / Blue paint, and ask about the string and its tension: Yonex recommends 20–30 lb. Treat balance or stiffness claims from shop copy with caution; Yonex’s own figures are Hi-Flex and 4U.
