Astrox 22 LT: a 63 g Astrox first listed in China in 2020, special order in the US

First in China, a year before the US

The Astrox 22 LT reached Yonex’s Chinese range before any other market. It first appears on Yonex China’s Astrox list in February 2020, beside the existing 2F Astrox 22, and is absent from the December 2019 capture of the same list. Yonex USA added it only in its 2021 catalog, published by February 2021, where it was one of three new Astrox models numbered 22 and the only one marked “Special Order.” It was also the least expensive of the three, a 3F frame at a $135 launch price. The 22 RX page tells the story of that 2021 family. The 22 LT’s own record is short: a light, plain-framed Astrox that Yonex sold in China, the United States and on its global store, but never in Japan.

A plainer frame than the 22 F

Yonex USA lists the 22 LT with a frame of high-modulus graphite and tungsten and a shaft of high-modulus graphite with Nanomesh Neo, rated medium, in 3F (average 63 g) with a G5 grip and 10 mm longer than standard; Yonex recommends 19–26 lb. Its technology line names the Rotational Generator System, the Isometric head, the Aero+Box frame and the Control Support Cap. Yonex China’s product page describes the same build: high-elasticity carbon and tungsten in the frame, Nanomesh Neo resin and high-elasticity carbon in the shaft, a medium feel and the extra 10 mm. The 22 F shares the weight, length and medium rating in Yonex USA’s catalogs but adds Nanometric DR to the frame and a slim shaft, and Yonex USA sold it strung; its own page covers the difference.

No documented player

No professional player is documented using the Astrox 22 LT. None of Yonex’s product pages for it names one, and it was never sold in Japan, whose dated Yonex match reports are the fullest record of who used what.

Dark Green, then Black/Red

The 22 LT had one global item code, AX22LT, and two colors. Dark Green came first: it is the color on Yonex China’s page in 2020 and 2021, in Yonex USA’s 2021 catalog and on Yonex’s global store from August 2022 to February 2023. By June 2023 the global store showed Black/Red, the color in Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog, which no longer marked the model as a special order. The listed specification did not change with the color. Yonex China sold the Dark Green frame under its own market code, AX22LTEX, with the same name, length, flex and materials; its page gives no weight class. No player or limited edition of the 22 LT is documented.

Off Yonex’s store after 2025

The 22 LT is discontinued. Yonex’s global store still showed it in stock, in Black/Red, in August 2025; by October 2026 the page had been removed, Yonex’s Far East site had no page for it, and Yonex USA’s current store did not carry it. Yonex published no production-end notice, so 2025 is the last year it is documented on sale new, not a documented production end. Its distribution was uneven: Yonex China listed it from February 2020 to at least June 2021, Yonex USA from 2021 to at least 2024, and Yonex Japan never. It was a low-priced standard model, and its interest is practical. No verified sales are recorded yet.

The wrong 22, more than fakes

No counterfeit specific to the Astrox 22 LT is documented, and Yonex published no guide for it. The common error is identity. Yonex sold four Astrox models numbered 22, all 10 mm longer than standard, and the 22 F shares the 22 LT’s 3F weight and medium rating, so a listing that gives only “Astrox 22” and a weight does not say which racquet it is. Origin is no help either: Yonex China’s product page gives China as the country of origin, but Yonex USA’s catalogs and the global store print none, so a country marking cannot be checked against every Yonex listing.

A sibling, not a step

No Yonex source names a successor to the 22 LT. It was one of three light 22s that Yonex USA listed side by side in 2021 and again in 2024, and of the three only the 22 RX was still on Yonex’s global store in 2026. Its interest for a collector is that family and its two dated colors: Dark Green was Yonex’s color from 2020 to early 2023, Black/Red from mid-2023.

Authentication

Yonex’s item code is AX22LT; Yonex China listed the Dark Green frame as AX22LTEX. Check for a 3F label (average 63 g, grip G5), a frame 10 mm longer than standard and one of the two documented colors, Dark Green or Black/Red. Yonex lists medium flex, high-modulus graphite and tungsten in the frame, and high-modulus graphite with Nanomesh Neo in the shaft. A Black/Lime 3F frame is the 22 F; a 2F (68 g) frame is the 22 RX or the older Astrox 22. Yonex China gives China as the origin, while Yonex USA and the global store give none, so a country marking is not a decisive check. Yonex’s own test is the hologram sticker, which resists peeling on a genuine racquet and lifts easily with a fingernail on a fake.

Outlook

The 22 LT is a light, standard Astrox documented on sale new from 2020 to 2025, never a limited model. Buy on condition and on the code: ask for photographs of the AX22LT marking, the 3F label and the color, because the 22 F shares its weight and rating. Yonex recommends 19–26 lb. Check the head and the frame-shaft joint for cracks, and treat a listing that says only “Astrox 22” as unidentified until the label is shown.
