Lightweight Astrox attacker: Astrox 55
5U Astrox power
The AX-55 was a mid-tier Astrox during the series' early years, taking the head-heavy power philosophy into a 5U (78g) frame for players who wanted Astrox smash capability with faster swing speed. Taiwan-manufactured with medium flex, it offered a distinct playing character from the heavier 3U/4U Astrox models above it in the range.
Head-heavy at 5U
Maintaining head-heavy balance in a 5U frame creates a different playing sensation than heavier head-heavy racquets — the momentum is lighter but the distribution still biases toward smash power. The AX-55's medium flex pairs with lightweight construction to give doubles players fast attack cycles without the fatigue of standard-weight Astrox models.
Who it's for
Doubles players and women's singles players who want Astrox-series power in a lighter, faster-handling package. The AX-55 served the same niche in the Astrox lineup that the VT-FB served in the Voltric range — Yonex's consistent answer to speed-oriented power at 5U.
AX-55 designation. Medium flex, head-heavy balance. 5U weight. HM Graphite. Made in Taiwan. Standard Yonex branding consistent with 2019 era.
No tracked price. Recently discontinued lightweight Astrox — niche collector value.
