Duora 88
Model DUO-88
Where to find it
Dual frame for the rest of us: Duora 88
The Duora for everyone else
The Duora 10 was Lee Chong Wei's weapon. The Duora Z-Strike was for the Viktor Axelsen-type power player. The Duora 88 was for everyone else — and Yonex built it as a genuine mid-tier flagship rather than a diluted version of its more famous siblings. Released in 2016 in yellow-white and lime, the DUO-88 brought the full Dual Optimum System (Box + Aero frame sides) to players who couldn't justify the Duora 10's premium price but refused to play without proper dual-face technology.
Genuine materials, not a budget version
Frame materials were High Elastic Graphite, NANOMETRIC β, and SUPER HMG — a meaningful combination that produced a stiffer, more responsive string bed than budget dual-frame alternatives. The stiff shaft transferred power cleanly on the Box side forehand smashes, while the Aero side enabled the quick backhand drives and flat net exchanges that the Duora concept was built to support. By 2016, the Duora technology had genuinely filtered down to mid-tier without meaningful compromise.
Condition scarcity from heavy use
At $250, the DUO-88 is the best available illustration of how far the Duora technology democratized. Japan-made examples are increasingly hard to find in mint condition as this frame saw heavy play use rather than shelf display — which makes clean specimens more compelling to collectors tracking end-of-production Duora-series pieces. The ones that survive in good condition were never heavily played; those are the specimens worth finding.
Dual-profile shaft cross-section visible under magnification. High Elastic Graphite + NANOMETRIC β + SUPER HMG designations. Yellow-white and lime colorway specific to DUO-88. Stiff flex. Even balance. Made in Japan. Standard Yonex hologram. Distinct from the Duora 10 — different materials and price tier.
The most accessible Japan-made Duora piece. Condition is everything — heavily played examples trade at deep discounts. Clean specimens at $250 will appreciate as the Duora series recedes further into collector territory.
