Isometric 24 VF: the graphite-shafted aluminum Isometric on Yonex’s 2008–12 list
Aluminum head, graphite shaft
The Isometric 24 VF paired an aluminum Isometric head with a graphite shaft, rated Medium, in the 2U class (90.0–94.9 g) and made in China. It was the first model on Yonex’s international Isometric list from 2008 to 2012, the lighter and softer of its two adult racquets, and the only one of the three marked VARI-Frame. Its listed build matches the Isometric 23 VF’s, and Yonex never says whether the two are the same frame.
What Yonex listed
Yonex’s international site first listed the 24 VF in February 2008. Its block gives Flex Medium, an aluminum frame, a graphite shaft, 2U (90.0–94.9 g) with a G4 grip, the Isometric head shape and VARI-Frame, and Made in China. Yonex’s 2008 Badminton Catalogue prints the same flex, frame, shaft, weight class and grip, rates it 2 for power and 2 for control, and gives its color as black and yellow. No Yonex document gives a balance point, a length, a string tension or a price.
No named player
Yonex names no player for the 24 VF and gives no playing level for it.
The same listed build as the 23 VF
Yonex USA and Yonex’s 2007 catalog list the Isometric 23 VF as Medium, 2U, aluminum on graphite with a G4 grip, and the catalog adds made in China and a blue color. The 24 VF first appears in 2008, the year after that catalog, but Yonex never calls it a successor or a rename, and the documented colors differ. Beside it on the 2008–12 list stood the steel-shafted 22 VF, Stiff and U, and the 22 JR, a 2U junior racquet with a G5 grip.
Listed from 2008 to 2012
The 24 VF was an export model. No Yonex Japan listing of it is documented, and Yonex USA’s own Isometric page still named the 23 VF in 2007. The international list kept it, unchanged, through 2009 and 2010, and it was last listed there in March 2012. Yonex’s 2011 export catalog shows no Isometric racquets. No production end is documented, and the Isometric page on Yonex’s global site in 2020 listed only modern models. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Reading the number
No counterfeit of the Isometric 24 VF is documented. The 23 VF shares its listed build, so the “24 VF” printed on the frame is the check; a steel shaft or a U class points to the 22 VF.
A short-lived number
The 24 VF belongs to a run of aluminum Isometric names that changed every few years: the 23 VF, the 30 DF and the 24 VF share one listed build. Its whole record is one web list, kept from 2008 to 2012, and one column of a 2008 catalog spec page.
Yonex documents the 24 VF as Medium, 2U (90.0–94.9 g) with a G4 grip, an aluminum frame on a graphite shaft with VARI-Frame, made in China; its 2008 catalog color is black and yellow. A steel shaft or a U class points to the 22 VF, and a G5 grip to the 22 JR junior. Read the model number on the frame, since the 23 VF shares the listed build. On an aluminum frame, check the hoop for bends and the frame-to-shaft joint for looseness.
Confirm the “24 VF” print and the 2U weight before treating a frame as this model. Yonex documents no balance, length, tension or price for it, so a listing that quotes one is relying on another source. Expect ordinary club wear on an entry frame of this age.
