Isometric 250: Yonex Japan’s supple all-carbon Isometric, not the export 250 Long
Yonex Japan’s entry in the Isometric line
Yonex Japan’s Isometric 250, item code ISO-250, is on its Products ’00 pages and on the April 2001 lineup beside the Ti Swing Power, the 750 Muscle and the 300 Long. The earliest Yonex Japan record is that 2000-model page; the launch date is not documented. Do not confuse it with the 250 Long of Yonex’s 1996 Asian catalog, a 2U export frame that Yonex never links to it.
All carbon, 3U, supple
Yonex Japan prints an all-carbon frame and an all-carbon shaft, size 3U in grip 4 or 5, and a recommended 14–16 lb on the mains and 16–18 lb on the crosses. Its copy credits a supple shaft and a wide sweet spot for easy flight, and a soft feel that is easy on the wrist. The 2001 and 2002 lineups add an Isometric head with Muscle Power, a wider sweet spot and frame strength raised by 10 percent. No balance word, made-in country or flex word is printed for this model, so those fields stay “Not documented.”
No named player
Yonex Japan names no player for the Isometric 250, and its pages never tie the frame to a pro.
Colors and string advice
Yonex’s pages show three color records under one item code: navy/lavender (174) and blue (061) on the Products ’00 page; pink/silver (174) and blue/sax (061), marked as new colors, in April 2001; and pink (026) and sax (027) on the old-model page. The lineup tagged the 250 “new color” in February 2002 and “new” in April 2002. For string, Yonex names BG65 for hard hitters and, for control players, BG66 on the ’00 page and BG85 on the later pages.
¥12,000, filed with the 2002 models
Yonex Japan printed ¥12,000 for the frame on every page found (with a soft case; the ’00 page says a full racquet case), between the 300 Long at ¥14,000 and the 750 Muscle at ¥19,000. The racquet was still on the current lineup in February 2003 with its copy cut to the supple-shaft sentence; Yonex Japan’s old-model index filed it with its 2002 models, which gives 2002 as the end. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Mix-ups, not fakes
No counterfeit of the Isometric 250 is documented. Expect confusion with the export 250 Long, which is 2U and Medium Stiff, and with the Isometric 300 Long, whose “head-light supple Long” lineup copy belongs to that model, not the 250. Check the item code and the 3U size.
A short Yonex Japan record
The ISO-250 has a complete record in Yonex Japan’s own pages (code, size, tension, colors, price) but little technology beyond the Muscle Power line. It is a plain all-carbon Isometric, not a titanium or named-player frame, and its three color records make the color number the practical way to date a frame.
Yonex Japan’s record: item code ISO-250; all-carbon frame and shaft; 3U only, grip 4 or 5; recommended 14–16 lb mains, 16–18 lb crosses. A 2U frame is not this model (that is the export 250 Long). Documented colors are navy/lavender (174), blue (061), pink/silver (174), blue/sax (061), pink (026) and sax (027); a frame should match one of them. Yonex prints no country of manufacture, so made-in rests on the frame’s own marking. On a frame of this age, check the joint, grommets and hoop for cracks.
The Isometric 250 is a clearly documented Yonex Japan frame, so a buyer can check item code, 3U size and color number first. Be careful with listings that merge it with the export 250 Long or the 300 Long, and with claims of player use, which Yonex does not make. Judge condition at the joint and shaft.
