Isometric 95 VF Long: the 95 VF’s longer twin, rated one step higher for power
One dot apart
The Isometric 95 VF Long is known only from the spec chart of Yonex’s 1999 catalog, where it stands in its own column under the “95” heading beside the regular 95 VF. The two share the chart’s flex and control ratings; the Long’s power dot sits one step higher. That one dot is the only documented difference beyond the name.
A Long among Longs
The 1999 chart lists six Long models: the 95 VF Long, 85 VF Long and 250 Long in its Isometric columns and the 20 Long, 15 Long and 7 Long among the Carbonex. Yonex treated a Long as a separate model, and the chart gives the 95 VF Long the middle row for flex and control, with power two steps below “Excellent”. It prints no length, weight, balance or material, so how much longer the frame is remains undocumented. The VF name is spelled out only in Yonex’s 2000 catalog, as Vari-Frame, by which time no 95 was listed.
No player on record
No player is documented using the Isometric 95 VF Long, and the chart names none.
The regular 95 and the 85 Long
The regular-length 95 VF, with the same flex and control dots and one step less power, has its own page. The 85 VF Long beside it has the same power rating and a flex one step closer to “Flexible”. No colorway, edition or photograph of the 95 VF Long is documented.
One documented year
The 95 VF Long appears in no other Yonex document: not the 1996 Asian catalog, not Yonex USA’s Isometric page of 1999–2000, not Yonex Japan’s pages, and not the 2000 Asian catalog, whose Isometric Long models are the Swing Power 500 Long and 750 Muscle. 1999 is its first and last documented year; no launch date, production end or Yonex list price is known. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Check the Long
No counterfeit of the Isometric 95 VF Long is documented. The only Yonex-backed identifier is the name, so check that the frame says “Long” and 95; a regular 95 VF or an 85 VF Long is a different model.
A footnote to the 95
The 95 VF Long belongs to the run of Long Isometrics and Carbonexes in Yonex’s late-1990s range. Its length, weight and specification are undocumented, which leaves a correctly printed frame of interest mainly to collectors of that range.
Yonex’s 1999 spec chart is the only Yonex record of the Isometric 95 VF Long: middle flex, middle control, and power one step above the regular 95 VF. Yonex documents no length, weight, balance, material, item code, colorway or country of manufacture, so any such claim in a listing is the seller’s. Check that the frame reads 95 VF and Long; without the Long, it is the regular 95 VF. On a frame about 25 years old, inspect the throat, hoop and grommets for cracks.
The 95 VF Long exists on paper as a single column of Yonex’s 1999 spec chart, beside the regular 95 VF. A frame printed with both the number and “Long” is the thing to look for; a stated length, weight, year or country of manufacture comes from the seller, not from Yonex.
