The power outlier: Muscle Power 100
The MP flagship
The Muscle Power 100 was the flagship of the MP series in 2003 — not the most visible racquet in professional play, but the highest-specification Muscle Power Yonex offered before the Armortec era began displacing the MP line at the top of the range. Made in Japan, unlike the China-manufactured lower MP models, the MP-100 used premium-grade HM Graphite with Yonex's full Muscle Power grommet construction optimised for maximum power transfer.
The dense string bed
The MP-100's stringing pattern — 22 mains by 22 crosses — gave it a dense, consistent string bed designed for players who generated their own pace and wanted the racquet to amplify rather than resist it. A head-heavy balance and stiff flex profile made it demanding but rewarding for advanced singles players in the pre-Voltric era who needed decisive smash capability without the exotic material price premium that was about to arrive with the Armortec series in 2005.
The end of an era
The MP-100 is the collector's answer to 'what was the best Yonex you could buy before Armortec changed everything?' It represents the peak of Yonex's analog graphite engineering — no nano-materials, no titanium reinforcement at this level, just refined HM Graphite construction taken as far as it would go. No secondary market price is tracked, but Japan-made examples in original condition are the meaningful addition to any collector's representation of the Muscle Power era.
MP-100 designation on shaft. Stiff flex, head-heavy balance. HM Graphite frame and shaft — no titanium or nano designations. 22M × 22C string pattern. Made in Japan. Standard Yonex branding consistent with 2003 era.
No tracked price. Japan-made status separates it from lower MP models. Compelling as the capstone of a complete Muscle Power display alongside the MP-88 and MP-23.
