Muscle Power-30 (2004–06): Yonex USA’s medium-flex export model, not Japan’s MP-30
Same name, different racquet
Yonex USA listed a Muscle Power-30 from mid-2004 to 2006, at the bottom of its Muscle Power range. It is not the Muscle Power 30 that Yonex Japan launched in February 2008: that racquet came years after this one had left Yonex USA’s list, in new colors and Japanese grip sizes, and no Yonex source connects the two.
What Yonex USA listed
Yonex USA’s Muscle Power list gives the Muscle Power-30 a Medium flex, a graphite frame and a high-modulus graphite shaft, in 3U (85–89 g), with grips G3–G5 on the June 2004 list. Yonex printed no balance, length, factory, color or item code for it, and no Yonex price is on record.
No player on record
No player is documented using the export Muscle Power-30, and Yonex named none.
Its place on the list
In June 2004 Yonex USA’s list ran 99, 88, 66, 44 and 30, replacing the 100, 77, 33 and 22 of the previous winter; by October 2005 the Flexible 2U MP-23 POWER had joined below it. The MP-30 was the only Medium-flex model in the lower half of that list. No colorway or edition is documented.
Two years on Yonex USA’s list
The Muscle Power-30 first appears on Yonex USA’s list of 5 June 2004 and is still there in February and June 2006; by November 2006 the Muscle Power 21 and 29 Light had taken the lower places. No launch date is documented, so 2004 is its earliest Yonex-documented year and 2006 the last year a Yonex list shows it. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Copies and markings
No counterfeit of this model is documented. Listings under “Muscle Power 30” more often mean Yonex Japan’s 2008–10 model, a carbon frame made in Japan in magenta or white/blue.
A name worth checking
The export Muscle Power-30 is documented only by Yonex USA’s list. A buyer should establish which of the two Muscle Power 30s a frame is before relying on any specification.
Check the weight label reads 3U, the only class Yonex USA listed, and a grip in the G3–G5 range Yonex USA listed in June 2004. Yonex documents a graphite frame and a high-modulus graphite shaft with a Medium flex; it printed no color or factory. A magenta or white/blue frame with a G5 or G6 grip and Japanese markings is Yonex Japan’s 2008–10 Muscle Power 30, a different model. Judge an old frame by its markings, grommets and condition.
A thinly documented US-market model from the mid-2000s. Confirm which Muscle Power 30 a listing describes, and treat seller claims about balance or factory as unverified: Yonex documented neither.
