Voltric LD200: a China-made Lin Dan Voltric listed with the LD100’s exact specs

One step above its twin

The Voltric LD200 is one of the five Lin Dan Voltrics Yonex added in the summer of 2016, and on Yonex’s own pages it cannot be told from the model below it. Yonex’s international site lists item VTLD200 with the LD100’s specification line for line: medium flex, a graphite and tungsten frame, a graphite shaft, 4U (average 83 g) in grips 4 and 5, Premium Gold. Yonex China gives both as made in China. What separates them in Yonex’s record is the item code and one rung in Yonex China’s suggested retail order, where the LD200 sits above the LD100 and below the LD3, LD9 and LD Force.

No technology of its own

Yonex’s LD200 page uses the general Voltric copy, the Tri-Voltage System for heavy smashes and speedy racquet handling, and names no model-specific technology. Yonex China’s one-line pitch is a racquet that balances power and control to command the match. It lists the length as “10 mm extended”, a note shared by the whole LD line. Yonex names no base frame for the LD200 and publishes no balance point. Yonex China’s page was archived on July 29, 2016, and Yonex’s international Voltric list added the model between July 17 and July 29, 2016.

Named for Lin Dan

Yonex used “LD” as Lin Dan’s mark, describing his 2015 Exclusive collection as adorned with his custom “LD” symbol. The LD200’s own Yonex pages do not print his name, and no Yonex report, staff page or release shows him with it. Retail copy that calls the LD200 “endorsed by Lin Dan” goes further than Yonex did. His signature frame of these years was the Voltric LD Force, which has its own page.

Gold only

Yonex lists the LD200 in Premium Gold alone, the color of the whole 2016 LD line (color 560 on Yonex China); no other LD200 color appears on a Yonex page. Its nearest relative is the LD100, which matches it on every listed specification, factory included. The LD3 shares its medium flex but is Taiwan-made and also came in 5U on Yonex’s international site; the LD9 is stiff and Taiwan-made, and the LD Force stiff and Japan-made.

On Yonex’s list through 2016

The five LD models were on Yonex’s international Voltric list from late July 2016, a week before the Rio Olympics opened, through at least December 2016, and none remained on March 2, 2017. Yonex China’s LD200 page stayed up longer: it was archived five times between July 2016 and October 31, 2017, its last capture, with the same specifications each time. With no production end published, and a product page left online no proof of stock, 2016, its last year on Yonex’s list, is the last year the LD200 is documented on sale new. No Yonex Japan page for it is archived. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Telling the twins apart

No counterfeit of the LD200 is documented. The real difficulty is telling it from the other gold LD Voltrics, and above all from the LD100: Yonex lists the same weight class, grip sizes, string range, materials, color and factory for both, so the model name on the frame and the item code are the only reliable separators. A Taiwan or Japan factory mark points to a higher LD model.

Second from the bottom

Within Yonex’s 2016 Lin Dan line the LD200 is the second-lowest model, and Yonex gave it no listed feature that the LD100 lacks. It is still a documented Yonex product, with its own item code and pages on two Yonex sites, and a full set of the line needs it. Its interest comes from the line and the LD name rather than from anything specific to the frame.

Authentication

Look for the model name VOLTRIC LD200 and the item code VTLD200. Yonex’s listing: 4U (average 83 g), grips 4 and 5, medium flex, a graphite and tungsten frame, a graphite shaft, Premium Gold; Yonex China gives the factory as China. Yonex recommends 19–24 lb. Because the LD100 shares every one of these details, confirm the model number itself. A 5U or 3U label rules the LD200 out; a Taiwan-made gold LD frame is an LD3 or LD9, and a Japan-made one an LD Force. Yonex’s published counterfeit checks apply: a laser-engraved production code on the cap above the handle, and a hologram sticker that resists peeling.

Outlook

A gold Lin Dan Voltric with a short Yonex record and no match history; its appeal is as part of the 2016 LD set with the LD100, LD3, LD9 and LD Force. Check the model number and the 4U label in photographs first, since a seller may not know which gold LD racquet they have. Be careful with “endorsed” or “limited edition” wording in listings, which Yonex never used for it, and ask for daylight photographs of the frame and the cone.
