Isometric 50 MF: the aluminum-framed Mega-Frame of Yonex’s 2000 Isometric line
An aluminum Isometric
The Isometric 50 MF closes page 11 of Yonex’s 2000 Asian catalog: an aluminum frame on a graphite shaft, Medium Stiff, U (95–99 g), tagged New and photographed in blue. It sits below the graphite 60 MF Light, the other model named for the catalog’s new Mega-Frame. The next page adds two more aluminum Isometrics, the 25 and 20, both with steel shafts; each has its own page. That catalog is its only Yonex record.
Aluminum frame, graphite shaft, U
The catalog prints Flex: Medium Stiff; frame aluminum, shaft graphite; weight U (95–99 g); grip sizes G2 to G5; and Yonex recommends 16–20 lb, one range rather than separate figures for mains and crosses. Its tags are ISO and Aero. The facing Mega-Frame page promises a larger sweet spot for developing players but calls the Mega-Frames graphite racquets, which the 50 MF’s own block contradicts for the frame. The catalog’s spec chart places it on the middle flex mark, level with the 96 VF and 750 Muscle, and one mark above Medium for both power and control. No Yonex document gives a balance point, length, made-in country or item code.
No named player
Yonex names no player for the 50 MF; the Mega-Frame text addresses developing players, a level rather than a user.
Neighbors and a namesake
Beside it the 60 MF Light is graphite, Medium Flex and 3U. Yonex’s 1999 Asian spec chart has a column headed simply “50,” which has its own page; no Yonex source links it to the 50 MF. Yonex USA’s Isometric-23 of 2002–04 also pairs an aluminum frame with a graphite shaft, in 2U and Medium.
One catalog
The 2000 catalog is the 50 MF’s first and last Yonex record, so 2000 is both its earliest and last documented year; no production end is documented. Yonex USA’s Isometric lists of 1999–2004 never show it, no Yonex Japan listing is documented, and the 2007 export catalog omits it. No Yonex document found prints a price for it. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Checking the name
No counterfeit of the 50 MF is documented. The catalog photo shows “ISOMETRIC 50 MF” on the shaft. The graphite shaft under an aluminum head is the check: the Isometric-25 on the next page shares the aluminum frame and U class but has a steel shaft, as does the heavier 3L Isometric-20.
A footnote to the line
The record is one catalog block and a photograph. Its interest is the pairing: the only Mega-Frame with an aluminum head, and the only aluminum Isometric in that catalog on a graphite shaft.
Yonex documents an aluminum frame, a graphite shaft, Medium Stiff flex and the U class (95–99 g) for the 50 MF; no item code or country of manufacture is documented. The 2000 catalog photo shows a blue frame with “ISOMETRIC 50 MF” on the shaft. A graphite head, a 3U label or a “60 MF Light” print means the sibling; a steel shaft means the Isometric-25 or -20; a bare “50” is a separate record. On a frame more than 20 years old, check the hoop for dents or a twisted head and the joint where the shaft meets the frame.
The 50 MF suits a collector completing the 2000 Isometric line or interested in Yonex’s aluminum-framed models. With one Yonex source and no item code, any detail beyond the catalog block, such as a made-in country or balance, is a seller’s claim. Confirm the shaft print and the aluminum head before buying.
