Isometric 60 MF Light: the graphite Mega-Frame of Yonex’s 2000 Asian catalog
A new Mega-Frame
The Isometric 60 MF Light is one of two Mega-Frame models at the foot of page 11 of Yonex’s 2000 Asian catalog, tagged New and photographed with a red frame. It is the graphite one; the 50 MF below it has an aluminum frame. That catalog is the only Yonex record of the name.
Graphite, Medium Flex, 3U
The catalog prints Flex: Medium Flex; a graphite frame on a graphite shaft; 3U (85–89 g); grip sizes G2 to G5; and Yonex recommends 14–16 lb on the mains and 16–18 lb on the crosses. Its tags are ISO, Aero and Light. The facing “Isometric MF Theory (Mega-Frame)” page calls the Mega-Frames “new large-frame graphite racquets,” “light weight and easy to swing,” with a wider sweet spot for developing players. The catalog’s spec chart rates it one mark above Flexible, the middle mark for power and one mark above Medium for control. No Yonex document gives a balance point, length, made-in country or item code.
No named player
Yonex names no player for the 60 MF Light; “developing players” is a level, not a user.
Namesakes, not documented as the same
Three similar names appear in Yonex records of the period, each with its own page: a “60 Light” column on Yonex’s 1999 Asian spec chart, Yonex USA’s Isometric 90 Light of 1999, photographed with a dark frame, and its 62 MF Light of 2002–03, whose spec window marks titanium mesh. No Yonex source links any of them to the 60 MF Light.
One catalog
The 2000 catalog is the 60 MF Light’s first and last Yonex record, so 2000 is both its earliest and last documented year; no production end is documented. The 2007 export catalog’s Isometric list omits it, and no Yonex Japan listing is documented. No Yonex document found prints a price for it. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Checking the name
No counterfeit of the 60 MF Light is documented. The catalog photo shows “ISOMETRIC 60 MF LIGHT” along the shaft, and the full name is the check: a “60 Light”, “90 Light” or “62 MF Light” is a different Yonex record, and Yonex Japan’s AR-60L of the same years is the Aerotus 60 Long, another series.
A single-catalog model
The record is one catalog block, a chart column and a photograph. Its interest is as the graphite half of the first Mega-Frame pair in Yonex’s Isometric line.
Yonex documents a graphite frame and shaft, Medium Flex and 3U (85–89 g) for the 60 MF Light; no item code or country of manufacture is documented. The 2000 catalog photo shows a red frame with “ISOMETRIC 60 MF LIGHT” on the shaft. An aluminum frame or a U weight points to the 50 MF; “60 Light”, “90 Light” or “62 MF Light” prints are separate records. On a frame more than 20 years old, inspect the throat, hoop and grommet holes for cracks.
The 60 MF Light suits a collector of the 1999–2000 Isometric line or of Yonex’s first Mega-Frames. With one Yonex source, details beyond the catalog block, such as a made-in country or balance, are a seller’s claim. Confirm the full name on the shaft before buying.
