Isometric 90 Light: the light graphite Isometric on Yonex USA’s 1999 page

Yonex USA’s light Isometric

The Isometric 90 Light is the last of the four racquets on Yonex USA’s Isometric page of 1999, after the Tour-800, Tour-300 and 250 Long, and the only 3U model among them. That page, with its spec block and a small photograph showing a dark frame, is its only Yonex record.

Graphite, Medium Flex, 3U

Yonex USA prints Flex: Medium Flex; a graphite frame on a graphite shaft; 3U (85–89 g); grip G4; and 16–18 lb on the mains and 18–20 lb on the crosses, the figure the page gives every model. It is the only model on the page with a plain graphite shaft rather than high-modulus graphite. No Yonex document gives a balance point, length, made-in country or item code.

No named player

Yonex names no player for the 90 Light.

Namesakes, not documented as the same

Its spec words match those of the Isometric 60 MF Light in Yonex’s 2000 Asian catalog, which is red in its photograph and tagged New, and Yonex USA’s 2002 list has an Isometric-62 MF Light in the same light slot. Both have their own pages; no Yonex source links either to the 90 Light, and the spec words are generic for a light graphite frame.

Listed in 1999

Yonex USA’s page lists it from 1999, and the page stayed online with the same four models to April 2001, which dates no sale after 1999. By 2002 Yonex USA’s Isometric list named other models. No production end is documented, no Yonex Japan or Asian catalog listing of the name is documented, and the page prints no price. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Checking the name

No counterfeit of the 90 Light is documented. The full name on the frame is the check: the photograph is too small to read the print, and the “90 VFS” Yonex USA listed in 2002–03 is a different model; it has its own page.

A US-only name

The 90 Light is a short US record: one spec block and one photograph.

Authentication

Yonex USA documents a graphite frame and graphite shaft, Medium Flex and 3U (85–89 g) for the 90 Light; no item code or country of manufacture is documented. Its 1999 photograph shows a dark frame. A high-modulus shaft or a 2U label points to the Tour-300 or 250 Long on the same page, and “60 MF Light”, “62 MF Light” or “90 VFS” prints are separate records. On a frame more than 20 years old, inspect the throat, hoop and grommet holes for cracks.

Outlook

The 90 Light interests a collector of Yonex USA’s late-1990s Isometrics. With one Yonex page as its record, any made-in, balance or color claim beyond the dark frame is a seller’s. Confirm the full name on the frame.
