Nanoflare 800 Game: the Taiwan-made, medium-flex 800 Yonex Japan sells beside the Pro

The second model of the new 800

When Yonex Japan announced a new Nanoflare 800 on October 16, 2023, it came in two models: the Pro for top players and this Game, “recommended for a wide range of players.” Both went on sale in Japan in late November 2023 in the same matte Deep Green design, and both carry the new 800’s copper foil, wide-profile frame and 22 × 22 string pattern. Underneath they differ. Yonex lists the Game as made in Taiwan where the Pro is made in Japan, medium flex where the Pro is stiff, and 4U only, and its launch table builds it without the M40X, Super HMG and Ultra PE Fiber of the Pro or the Pro’s sharp-angled lower frame. Yonex Japan sells it at an open price, meaning it sets no list price.

Nanocell NEO in place of M40X

Yonex Japan’s launch table gives the Game a frame of carbon, Nanocell NEO, high-modulus carbon and copper, a carbon shaft and a standard built-in T-joint; the Pro has M40X and Super HMG in the frame, Super HMG and Ultra PE Fiber in the shaft and a new T-joint. What the two share is the Nanoflare series’ Sonic Flare System, high-modulus carbon at the frame top and bottom, and the new 800’s own features: copper foil in the lower frame, a wide-profile frame with thickened sides, and an added cross string that Yonex says narrows the spacing and raises string-bed pressure for faster drives. Yonex’s global specifications rate the Game medium flex and 10 mm longer than standard, and recommend 20–28 lb. Its marker on the balance chart in Yonex Japan’s 2024–2026 catalogs sits on the head-light side, and Yonex USA’s page calls it head-light.

No named player

No professional player is documented using the 800 Game. Yonex Japan’s current product list names no player for it, while it names Liang Weikeng, Wang Chang and Chiharu Shida for the Pro, and Yonex Japan’s reports from the line’s first weeks, Soh Wooi Yik’s Denmark Open title and Liang and Wang’s China Masters, list the Pro. The Game is built for a different buyer: Yonex Japan recommends it to a wide range of players, and Yonex USA lists it for intermediate to advanced players.

One design, one weight, four tiers

The Game comes in one design, Deep Green, and one weight class, 4U (average 83 g, grip 5 or 6); the Pro and Tour add 3U. Yonex USA’s store sells it as “Dark Olive” under color number 269, the number its Pro and Tour carry as Deep Green and Yonex Japan’s shop gives the Game, so it is the same finish under another name rather than a recolor. The line has four tiers: the Japan-made Pro (NF-800P), the Tour (NF-800T), this Game (NF-800G) and the Play (NF-800PL), a graphite model that Yonex USA sells strung. Yonex Japan sells only the Pro and Game. Each has its own page, as do the 2019 Nanoflare 800 and its 5U 800 LT, which are earlier frames.

Current, at an open price in Japan

The Game has been on sale since late November 2023 and is current: Yonex Japan’s product list and its 2024, 2025 and 2026 catalogs carry it beside the Pro, and Yonex USA’s online store has listed it since October 2025. It is a standard model in wide distribution, so new stock is the main supply. Its interest is as the wider-market tier of the second-generation 800, the line Soh, Liang and Wang won titles with in Pro form. Because four tiers share the paint, a used listing needs its tier confirmed before anything else. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Mixed-up specifications

No counterfeit specific to the 800 Game is documented. Yonex’s own test is the hologram sticker, and it warns that fakes are hard to tell from genuine racquets by sight. The commoner trap is description, and some of it comes from Yonex itself. Yonex USA’s store page gives the Game “Hi-Flex” and a 22 × 21 string pattern, where Yonex’s global specifications and 2024 catalog say medium and Yonex Japan’s release gives the new 800 a 22 × 22 pattern. Yonex Japan’s current product list and Yonex USA’s page also tag the Game with Super HMG, which the launch table, the global page and the 2024 catalog list only for the Pro and Tour. Listings that offer a 3U Game, M40X or a Japan marking are describing a Pro.

The medium-flex 800

The Game brings the 800 name and the new frame’s copper and 22 × 22 string bed to a medium-flex, Taiwan-made racquet. For the first-generation 800, the nearest relative outside Japan was the Nanoflare 380 Sharp, sold with the same stiff, head-light brief on a frame without M40X; it has its own page. Yonex Japan’s release recommends the new 800 to attacking players who like head-light racquets and want sharp drives and pushes, and offers the Game to the wider range of them.

Authentication

Yonex’s item code is NF-800G; Yonex USA’s model number is NF800G. Look for the matte Deep Green design with bright green accents (named Dark Olive by Yonex USA), a frame 10 mm longer than standard and a 4U label (average 83 g, grip 5 or 6). Yonex lists the Game as made in Taiwan; the Pro in the same design is made in Japan. Yonex lists medium flex; graphite, Nanocell NEO, high-modulus graphite and copper in the frame; a graphite shaft; and a built-in T-joint. A Deep Green 800 in 3U, or one described with M40X or Ultra PE Fiber, is a Pro or Tour; one with an all-graphite frame is a Play. Yonex’s own test is the hologram sticker, which resists peeling on a genuine racquet.

Outlook

This is a current racquet, so most players will buy it new and choose the grip. Yonex recommends 20–28 lb. For a used frame, confirm the NF-800G code, the Taiwan marking and the 4U label, and ask for daylight photographs of the frame and T-joint. The tournament titles of the line’s first weeks were won with the Pro, and a Game listing that leans on them describes a different racquet.
