Nanospeed 1000: the cheapest Japan-market Nanospeed, and the last one retired

The cheapest Nanospeed

Yonex Japan listed the Nanospeed 1000 (item code NS1000) at ¥10,500 including tax (¥10,000 before tax), the lowest price of the Japan-listed Nanospeeds 6600, 3000, 2000 and 1000. Its page scheduled sale for mid-March 2012, and the racquet is on Yonex Japan’s list from February 2012. Yonex’s copy is “head-light at regular length for sure handling”, aimed at beginners. It was made in Japan.

Regular length, head-light

Yonex listed a carbon frame with a high-modulus carbon shaft containing fullerene and a built-in T-joint. Technologies are fullerene, built-in T-joint, Solid Feel Core, Isometric and an aero shape. Unlike the 2000 and 3000, its page shows no 10 mm Long mark, and the copy says regular length. It came only in 3U (grip sizes 5 and 6). Yonex recommends 17–22 lb, with BG65TI for hard hitters and BG68TI for control players. Yonex gave no flex word.

Beginners only

No Yonex page or report names a player with the Nanospeed 1000. Yonex Japan’s skill grids marked it ◎ for beginners and gave no mark for intermediate or advanced players, the narrowest audience of those four.

Cyan and Magenta

Yonex documents two designs under one code, Cyan and Magenta. The 1000 is the plain-carbon frame at the bottom of a row that runs 6600, 3000, 2000, 1000; the 2000 above it carries the Long mark and the Silver designs. Yonex’s 2012 spec chart plots its balance marker lowest of the row, toward the head-light side.

Listed to late 2013

Unlike the 6600, 3000 and 2000, which left Yonex Japan’s racquet list by May 2013, the 1000 stayed on it, with the Nanospeed 9900, in captures of September and December 2013. Yonex Japan’s old-model index nonetheless files it under the 2013 production ends. Listings call it Nanospeed 1000, NS1000 or ナノスピード1000. No Yonex source shows it sold outside Japan. No verified sales are recorded yet.

Mix-ups, not copies

No counterfeit of the Nanospeed 1000 is documented. Mix-ups are likelier with its siblings: the NS2000 is Silver with a Long mark, and the NS3000 is 4U. Check the code, the 3U mark and Cyan or Magenta paint.

The last of its row

The 1000 outlasted the 6600, 3000 and 2000 and, with the 9900, was one of only two Nanospeed links on Yonex Japan’s list after the 2012–13 clean-out. Yonex named no successor.

Authentication

Check the item code NS1000 on the frame and shaft. Yonex Japan documents 3U only (grip sizes 5 and 6), made in Japan, in Cyan or Magenta, with a carbon frame, a high-modulus carbon shaft with fullerene and a built-in T-joint. Its page shows no 10 mm Long mark. Yonex recommends 17–22 lb, with BG65TI or BG68TI strings. The grommet set was AC416ARI in 2012, listed as Japan-made. A Silver frame is the NS2000, a 4U frame the NS3000.

Outlook

The Nanospeed 1000 suits a collector completing Yonex Japan’s 2010–13 Nanospeed row from the bottom. Look for the NS1000 code, a 3U mark and Cyan or Magenta paint. Check the head and the shaft joint for cracks and the grommets for wear, and keep within Yonex’s 17–22 lb.
