Nanospeed 2000: the plain-carbon, Japan-made Nanospeed for beginners, 2011
An entry Nanospeed for Japan
The Nanospeed 2000 (item code NS2000) is a Japan-made beginner frame in the fullerene Nanospeed line. Yonex Japan’s page, tagged new in March 2011, lists it at ¥12,600 including tax (¥12,000 before tax), made in Japan. No release date is documented: it was absent from Yonex Japan’s racquet list in December 2010 and present in March 2011, so 2011 is its first documented year.
Carbon frame, fullerene shaft
Yonex listed a carbon frame, with no elastomer or high-strength layer, and a high-modulus carbon shaft with fullerene and a built-in T-joint. Its copy reads “fullerene in the shaft, excellent handling for quick racquet work”. Technologies are fullerene, built-in T-joint, Isometric, Solid Feel Core and an aero shape, with a 10 mm Long mark. It came only in 3U (grip sizes 5 and 6). Yonex recommends 17–22 lb, with BG65TI for hard hitters and BG68TI for control players. Yonex’s 2011 digital catalog rates it Medium and gave no balance word; its 2012 chart plots the balance marker well toward the head-light side.
Rated for beginners
No Yonex page or report names a player with the Nanospeed 2000. Yonex Japan’s skill grids marked it ◎ for beginners and ○ for intermediate players, with no mark for advanced players. In the same grids the 3000 is marked for intermediates and the 6600 for intermediates and, in one grid, advanced players.
Silver/Red and Silver/Blue
Yonex documents two designs under the one code, Silver/Red and Silver/Blue. The 2000 differs from the 3000 in being plain carbon and 3U rather than 4U with a high-strength carbon layer, and from the 1000 in carrying the 10 mm Long mark and a higher price.
About two years listed
The 2000 first shows on Yonex Japan’s list in March 2011 and was still on it in November 2012; the list of May 2013 no longer carried it. Yonex Japan’s old-model index files it under the 2012 production ends. Listings call it Nanospeed 2000, NS2000 or ナノスピード2000. Yonex’s 2011 digital catalog on its international site also lists it, marked made in Japan. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Mix-ups, not copies
No counterfeit of the Nanospeed 2000 is documented. Mix-ups are likelier with the NS3000, NS6600 or NS1000, which are separate Yonex codes. Check the code, the 3U size mark and the two Silver designs.
The middle starter
The 2000 was the middle of the plain-carbon starters in Yonex Japan’s 2011–12 Nanospeed row, below the 3000 and above the 1000. It left with the 2012 clean-out and Yonex named no successor.
Check the item code NS2000 on the frame and shaft. Yonex Japan documents 3U only (grip sizes 5 and 6), made in Japan, in Silver/Red or Silver/Blue. The page lists a carbon frame, a high-modulus carbon shaft with fullerene, a built-in T-joint and a 10 mm Long mark. Yonex recommends 17–22 lb, with BG65TI for hard hitters and BG68TI for control players. A Cyan or Magenta frame is the NS1000, a 4U frame the NS3000, an orange one the NS6600.
The Nanospeed 2000 suits a collector filling in the entry-level end of Yonex Japan’s 2010–12 Nanospeed row. Look for the NS2000 code, a 3U mark and one of the two Silver designs. Check the head and the shaft joint for cracks and the grommets for wear, and keep within Yonex’s 17–22 lb.
