ArcSaber 6 FL: the magenta 4U ArcSaber Yonex built around a tapered whip-back shaft
A flexible ArcSaber for beginners
The ArcSaber 6 FL was the flexible 4U ArcSaber of Yonex’s 2015 line, made in Taiwan, in magenta. Yonex built its pitch around the shaft: “The first tapered DUAL WHIP-BACK SHAFT produces increased flexibility for a longer hold time to enhance transfer of power to the shuttle.” Yonex China’s 2016 page classed it as an entry-level (入门级) control frame.
H.M. Graphite and NANOAIR SPRING
Yonex’s international site added the 6 FL to its ArcSaber list in early February 2015, with the Lite and FD; no launch date is documented, so 2015 is the earliest Yonex-documented year. The product page gave item code ARC6FL, Flex Flexible, an H.M. Graphite frame with NANOAIR SPRING, a graphite shaft, 4U (Ave. 83 g) in G4 and G5, Yonex recommending 19–24 lb, Magenta, and “Made in Taiwan.” Yonex China described the shaft as soft (软) and the frame as 10 mm longer than standard. Yonex USA’s 2019 catalog rated it HI-FLEX.
No named player
No Yonex source names a player for the 6 FL. Yonex UK’s page carried a Taufik Hidayat quote, but it is the ArcSaber series copy shared by every model page, not an endorsement of this frame.
One design, two codes
Yonex China names Magenta (品红), and Yonex’s 2018 catalog lists Magenta and Navy Blue. The item code is ARC6FL on Yonex’s international, Far East, UK and USA pages, and ARC6FLEX on Yonex China’s 2016 page. Its 2015 list-mates included the China-made ArcSaber Lite (Medium, 4U), the stiff 5U ArcSaber FD and the stiff 3U ArcSaber 4DX, also made in Taiwan; the ArcSaber 9 FL (2010) is an older, Japan-made frame with a similar suffix. Each has its own page.
Listed from 2015 to 2020
The 6 FL stayed on Yonex’s international ArcSaber list until the old yonex.com was replaced in mid-2020; the last version of that list, in June 2020, still showed it, and the rebuilt global site never did. Yonex USA listed it beside the ArcSaber 11 and FB in late 2018 and in its 2019 catalog, and its 2021 catalog dropped it. Yonex China’s list kept it until at least June 2021, but that list did not remove old models. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Fakes and mix-ups
No counterfeit of this model is documented. The likelier mix-up is with the ArcSaber 9 FL, which shares the FL suffix but is a Japan-made frame from an earlier generation.
A soft-shafted ArcSaber
The 6 FL is a flexible, light club racquet from the years when Yonex widened the ArcSaber line below the ArcSaber 11. Its tapered whip-back shaft, as Yonex described it, is what sets it apart from the Lite and FD beside it.
Check for the ARCSABER 6FL name print and a 4U marking: Yonex offered no other weight class. Yonex lists it as made in Taiwan, so look for a Taiwan marking. Yonex’s documented designs are Magenta and, in the 2018 catalog, Navy Blue. Yonex documents an H.M. Graphite frame with NANOAIR SPRING and a flexible graphite shaft. A Japan-made frame with FL in the name is the older ArcSaber 9 FL.
A buyer should confirm the 6FL name print, the 4U class, the Taiwan marking and the magenta design, and not mistake it for the Japan-made ArcSaber 9 FL. Yonex documents no balance for it. As a 2015–2020 club frame with a soft shaft, check the shaft and frame for damage before anything else.
