Isometric 30 DF: the Medium DURA-Frame Isometric that took the 30 VF’s place in 2006
The 30 VF’s slot, under a new name
The Isometric 30 DF was a Medium-flex Isometric in the 2U class (90–94.9 g) with a G4 grip. Yonex’s 2006 Badminton Catalog, finished by May 2006, tagged it NEW in red, with an aluminum frame on a graphite shaft, made in China. Yonex USA listed it from November 2006 in the place its Isometric page had given the 30 VF, and the 2007 export Badminton Catalogue showed it in black and silver; that catalog’s spec table names the frame technology DURA-Frame, as for the 25 DF; the VF models beside them are Vari-Frame. Yonex does not spell out the “DF”.
What Yonex listed, and one conflict
Yonex’s 2006 catalog and Yonex USA’s Isometric page of November 2006 both list the 30 DF as Medium, with an aluminum frame, a graphite shaft and 2U (90–94.9 g) with G4; by October 2007 Yonex USA adds that the racquet was sold strung. The 2007 catalog agrees on Medium, 2U, G4, the graphite shaft and “Made in China”, but disagrees with itself on the frame: the product block prints “Frame: Graphite”, while the spec table prints Aluminum. Aluminum is the reading of the 2006 catalog’s block, the 2007 table and every Yonex USA listing. No balance point, length or price is documented.
No named player
Yonex names no player for the 30 DF, and its listings give no playing level for it.
One listed build, several names
On Yonex USA’s 2006–08 page the 30 DF sat between the graphite 75MF Light and the aluminum-and-steel 25 DF, with the 23 VF, 20 VF and the junior 20 Jr below. Its listed build is line for line that of the 23 VF on the same page and of the 30 VF’s 2005–06 listing, and Yonex’s international Isometric list gave the Isometric 24 VF the same build again from 2008, labeled VARI-Frame. Yonex never says whether any of them is the same frame; its 2007 table puts the 30 DF under DURA-Frame and the 23 VF under Vari-Frame.
Listed 2006–2007
The earliest Yonex record is the 2006 Badminton Catalog, finished by May 2006, which tags the 30 DF NEW; the tag is evidence of a 2006 launch, not proof of the date. Yonex USA’s Isometric page showed it from November 2006; its page of February 2006 still listed the 30 VF instead. The page last changed in 2007 and was still online, unchanged, in March 2008; by September 2008 it was gone. The 2006 and 2007 catalogs are the only Yonex catalogs known to show it, and Yonex’s international Isometric list of February 2008 has the 24 VF in the Medium 2U slot. Yonex China’s product menu carried the code ISO-30DF from December 2007 into 2009. No production end is documented. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Name and frame first
No counterfeit of the Isometric 30 DF is documented. The confusion is between names: the 23 VF, the 30 VF and the 24 VF share its listed Medium, 2U, graphite-shaft build, so the model name printed on the frame decides. A graphite head would match only the 2007 catalog block’s reading.
A middle model renamed
The 30 DF held the middle of Yonex USA’s starter Isometric range across 2006–07, between the 30 VF before it and the 24 VF on Yonex’s 2008 list. Its record is two Yonex catalogs, showing it in red and then in black and silver, and one Yonex USA page.
Yonex documents the 30 DF as Medium, 2U (90–94.9 g) with a G4 grip, a graphite shaft, made in China; Yonex showed it in red (2006 catalog) and in black and silver (2007). Yonex USA, the 2006 catalog and the 2007 spec table give an aluminum frame, only the 2007 product block a graphite one, so check the frame itself. A steel shaft, a U or 3U class or a G5 grip points to a different model. Read the model name, since the 23 VF, 30 VF and 24 VF share the listed build. Yonex USA sold it strung.
Confirm the “30DF” name and the 2U weight before treating a frame as this model; Yonex showed it in red (2006 catalog) and in black and silver (2007). Yonex documents no balance, length or price for it, so a listing that quotes one is relying on another source. Expect ordinary club wear on a frame sold strung as a starter.
