Nanoflare 600: Yonex’s “most head-light” Nanoflare, built to ease arm and elbow strain
A Nanoflare for the arm and elbow
Yonex announced the Nanoflare 600 (item code NF-600) on November 20, 2019, as a racquet for intermediate players worried about strain on the arm and elbow, and put it on sale worldwide at the same time in late December 2019. Its release called it a “racquet that is kind to the body” and made two claims for it: the most head-light design in the Nanoflare series at the time, and a new vibration-absorbing material Yonex calls VDM (Vibration Dampening Mesh), laid along the sides of the frame. Yonex Japan listed it at ¥22,000 before tax.
VDM along the frame sides
Yonex said VDM absorbs about 2.4 times the vibration of ordinary carbon, by its own measurement, and that spreading it along the frame sides raised the racquet’s vibration absorption by about 21% while keeping its repulsion. The rest is the Nanoflare system: the Sonic Flare System, with high-modulus Super HMG carbon at the frame top and Toray’s M40X in the lower frame, an aero frame shape and the Isometric head; Yonex’s machine test claimed 11.7% more shuttle distance, without naming the comparison in its text. Yonex lists the frame as HM Graphite, M40X, Super HMG and VDM, an HM Graphite shaft, a new built-in T-joint, Solid Feel Core, a Super Slim Shaft and the Control Support Cap. The flex is Hi-Flex and the frame is 10 mm longer than standard. It came in 4U (average 83 g) and 5U (average 78 g) and was made in Japan.
No named player
No Yonex source names a professional using the Nanoflare 600. Yonex aimed it at club players: Yonex Japan’s level chart rated it best (◎) for intermediate men and women and suitable (○) for advanced players, with no mark for beginners, and Yonex’s global site described it as for “intermediate to advanced players with developing skills.” The release pitched it to players who want to keep playing for years without arm or elbow trouble.
Peach in Japan, Marine abroad
Yonex Japan sold the 600 in Peach, the only color on its release and product pages. Yonex’s global site and Yonex USA’s 2021 catalog list it in Marine, the catalog in 4U only. No limited edition is documented. It joined a line that already had the medium-flex Nanoflare 700 of March 2019, which Yonex also rated for intermediates, and the stiff Nanoflare 800 of September 2019; the 600 is the Hi-Flex frame of the three. The Nanoflare 800 LT of 2020 later used VDM at the top of its frame. Japan’s cheaper Nanoflare 200 went on sale the same month as a Japan-only 4U model listed without VDM. Each has its own page.
About three years on Yonex’s lists
The 600 was a worldwide model. Yonex Japan listed it through 2021, at ¥22,000 before tax and later ¥24,200 with tax, and Yonex USA’s 2021 catalog printed $245. It dropped from Yonex Japan’s racquet list in 2022, which kept the Nanoflare 200, and was last listed in stock on Yonex’s global site in early 2023; that site’s Nanoflare list still showed it in December 2022. It is absent from Yonex USA’s 2024 catalog and Yonex Japan’s 2024–2026 catalogs, and Yonex publishes no production-end date for it. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Mix-ups, not fakes
No counterfeit of the Nanoflare 600 is documented. The likelier confusion is with the other Japan-made head-light Nanoflares of the same years, the 200, 400 and 70, which Yonex lists in 4U only. Yonex USA’s catalog writes the code without a hyphen, NF600. The codes NF600S and NF600V on Yonex Japan’s old-model pages belong to soft-tennis racquets of the 2000s, not to this badminton frame. The item code, the Peach or Marine finish and the Made in Japan origin identify a 600; the callout lists the details.
A comfort frame from the first Nanoflare years
The 600 is a discontinued mass-market frame with no documented player or edition. Its interest is as the Nanoflare Yonex built around arm and elbow comfort in 2019: a Japan-made Hi-Flex frame with VDM along its sides and the most head-light balance in the series at launch, sold worldwide for about three years.
Yonex’s item code is NF-600 (NF600 in Yonex USA’s 2021 catalog). Check for a Made in Japan origin, a 4U (average 83 g) or 5U (average 78 g) label and a frame 10 mm longer than standard. Yonex documents two colors: Peach in Japan and Marine on its global site and in Yonex USA’s catalog. Yonex lists HM Graphite, M40X, Super HMG and VDM in the frame, an HM Graphite shaft and a new built-in T-joint, and rates the flex Hi-Flex. Yonex Japan’s dedicated grommet set for it is AC416NFA (black), and Yonex Japan marked it as passing the Japan Badminton Association’s equipment test. A frame coded NF-200 is the Japan-only Nanoflare 200, and one coded NF-400 or NF-70 is a later Japan-line Nanoflare.
The 600 is out of production, so copies are pre-owned or old stock. Confirm the NF-600 code, the Made in Japan marking, the weight label and the Peach or Marine finish, and ask for daylight photographs of the frame sides, the top of the head and the shaft to check for cracks or repairs. Yonex recommends 19–27 lb in 4U and 18–26 lb in 5U. Its interest is as Yonex’s 2019 comfort Nanoflare, not any professional record.
