Voltric Lite: Yonex’s beginner Voltric, still listed beside the GlanZ in 2023
The Voltric for beginners
Yonex described the Voltric Lite as a “beginner model for easy use equipped with the TRI-VOLTAGE SYSTEM”. It sat at the foot of the Voltric line from 2016, yet it outlasted nearly every racquet above it. When Yonex rebuilt its international site in 2020, the new Voltric list carried seven racquets, the Lite among them. In January 2023 that list showed only two, the Voltric GlanZ and the Lite, and by June 2023 the GlanZ stood alone.
Graphite and tungsten at 4U
The Lite is first documented in March 2016. Yonex’s international Voltric list did not show it in early February 2016 and did by 5 March, in the reshuffle that also brought the 1TR, the 0F revision of the Voltric 0, the 50 E-tune and the 8 E-tune. A day later Yonex China’s list tagged it new, calling it an entry-level racquet with the Tri-Voltage System. No launch release is documented. Yonex lists item VT-LITE with a graphite and tungsten frame, a graphite shaft, a length listed as “10 mm longer” and a 4U weight (average 83 g); it recommends 19–24 lb. Its 2018 catalog names the Tri-Voltage System, Isometric, the Aero+Box frame and Tungsten. The flex read “Flexible” in 2016 and “Hi-Flex” from 2018. The racquet selector in that catalog puts its marker on the head-heavy side, level with the Voltric 0F’s.
No player on record
No Yonex page, catalog or list ties a player to the Voltric Lite. Yonex sold it as a beginner’s racquet, and no Yonex source gives it a professional user.
Four colors and three codes
Yonex named no edition of the Lite, but its color changed several times. The 2016 pages show White/Black and the 2018 catalog Black/Blue. Yonex USA’s 2019 catalog listed it in Red under item code VTLT4U19S, and its 2021 catalog sold it pre-strung in Black/Yellow as VTLT, the color Yonex’s site showed from 2021 to 2023. In both US catalogs the Lite and the Voltric 0F print the same frame, shaft, length, weight and stringing advice at the same price, but the 0F’s technology list adds a TFA cap and the two keep separate item codes; the 0F is covered on the Voltric 0 page. The Voltric 0.1 DG, another 4U hi-flex Voltric, has its own page. Shop listings for a “Voltric Lite 20i”, “25i” or “35i” describe other racquets; no Yonex source documents them as the Voltric Lite.
Sold outside Japan, 2016–2023
The Lite was an export model: Yonex’s international site, Yonex UK, Yonex China, Yonex’s 2018 catalog and Yonex USA’s 2019 and 2021 catalogs listed it, and no Yonex Japan listing is documented. Yonex UK still listed it in January 2020. No launch price is documented; Yonex USA’s catalog prices came three and five years after its arrival. No Yonex source states a production end. It was last listed on Yonex’s international Voltric list in February 2023 and was gone from it by June 2023. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Mix-ups more than fakes
No counterfeit of this model is documented. The likelier error is identity. The Lite, the Voltric 0F, the Voltric Ace and the Voltric 1TR are all 4U Voltrics of the same years, and sellers often drop the model name. The item code settles it: VT-LITE, VTLT4U19S or VTLT for the Lite, VT0F for the 0F, VT-ACE for the Ace and VT1TR for the 1TR. The Ace, listed from 2018 in Royal Blue and Ice Blue, prints the Lite’s specification but adds a Control Support Cap; it has its own page.
An entry-level Voltric with a long run
The Lite was made to be played, not collected. Its interest for a collector is its place in the Voltric story: the beginner’s frame that joined in the 2016 reshuffle and, with the GlanZ, the last Voltric still on Yonex’s international list in early 2023, after the DG Slims had left it.
Check the item code on the frame or box: VT-LITE on 2016–2018 frames, VTLT4U19S on Yonex USA’s 2019 red pre-strung racquet, VTLT from 2021. Yonex offered the Lite only in 4U (Yonex UK: 80–84.9 g; average 83 g) with G4 or G5 grips. The flex should read Flexible or Hi-Flex, and the frame graphite and tungsten. Yonex’s documented colors are White/Black, Black/Blue, Red and Black/Yellow; another finish needs a closer look. A frame coded VT0F is the Voltric 0F, whose technology list adds a TFA cap, and VT1TR is the medium-flex Voltric 1TR.
The Lite is a beginner’s racquet that Yonex sold for seven years in four colors, so it is the common end of the Voltric story. A buyer should confirm the item code, since the Lite, the 0F and the 1TR are easily swapped in listings, and should check whether a US frame came factory-strung. For a collector the White/Black launch color and the late Black/Yellow frames mark the two ends of its run.
