Voltric Ace: Yonex’s 2018 beginner Voltric, the Lite’s spec plus a Control Support Cap
A third 4U Hi-Flex Voltric
The Voltric Ace (item VT-ACE, VTACE on Yonex China’s site) joined Yonex’s export Voltric range in 2018 as a beginner’s frame. Yonex China called it all-carbon and lightweight, suited to beginners, and rated its level entry (入门级). In Yonex’s 2018 catalog it prints exactly the specification of the Voltric Lite and the Voltric 0F: Hi-Flex, a graphite and tungsten frame, a graphite shaft, 10 mm longer than standard, 4U (average 83 g) and 19–24 lb stringing advice. What sets it apart on paper is its technology list, which names a Control Support Cap that the Lite’s does not.
First listed in spring 2018
No launch date is documented. The earliest Yonex record is a product tile on Yonex China’s site in early March 2018; Yonex UK’s Voltric list showed the Ace by 10 April 2018 and Yonex’s international list by 13 April 2018. The 2018 catalog lists the Tri-Voltage System, Isometric head, Aero+Box frame, Tungsten and the Control Support Cap. Yonex China gives China as its place of origin. On the catalog’s racquet selector the Ace’s marker sits on the head-heavy side, a little nearer the centre than the Lite’s and the 0F’s, in a line Yonex described as built on “heavy-head construction”.
No player on record
No player is documented with the Voltric Ace, and none of Yonex’s pages for it names one. Yonex China listed it for adults (成人) at entry level (入门级), the pitch of a first racquet rather than a tour frame.
Royal Blue and Ice Blue
Yonex named no edition. The 2018 catalog and Yonex’s international page list two colors, Royal Blue and Ice Blue; Yonex UK’s page showed Ice Blue alone, and Yonex China listed both (品蓝 066 and 冰蓝 308). Yonex UK gave a G4 grip; the international page and Yonex China give grips 4 and 5. Its closest relatives are the Voltric Lite, whose 2018 technology list stops at Tungsten, and the Voltric 0F, which adds a TFA cap instead. The 4U, Hi-Flex Voltric 0.1 DG that Yonex UK listed in the same years is a different racquet. Each has its own page.
Listed outside Japan, 2018–2020
The Ace was an export model: Yonex’s international site, Yonex UK, Yonex China and Yonex’s 2018 catalog listed it, and no Yonex Japan listing is documented. Yonex UK’s list of February 2020 priced it at £40, between the Voltric 0F at £50 and the Lite at £30. Yonex’s international Voltric list last named it in January 2020; in July 2020 the list still counted thirteen Voltrics, and the rebuilt site’s list of September 2020 did not include it. Yonex China’s list still carried it in 2021. No Yonex source states a production end, and no launch price in dollars or yen is documented. No verified sales are recorded yet.
Identity before counterfeits
No counterfeit of the Voltric Ace is documented. The practical risk is identity: the Ace, the Lite and the 0F share a printed specification, and blue finishes overlap across the beginner Voltrics. The item code decides: VT-ACE or VTACE for the Ace, VT-LITE or VTLT for the Lite, VT0F for the 0F and VT0.1DG for the 0.1 DG.
A footnote to the beginner Voltrics
The Ace is a mass-market beginner’s racquet with about two years on Yonex’s international list, no player link and no edition. For a collector it is a small chapter of the late Voltric line: the frame that matched the Lite’s published numbers and added a Control Support Cap, sold in two blues.
Check the item code on the frame or box: VT-ACE (VTACE on Yonex China’s pages). Yonex lists the Ace only in 4U (average 83 g; Yonex UK: 80–84.9 g) with G4 or G5 grips, Hi-Flex, with a graphite and tungsten frame, a graphite shaft and a length 10 mm over standard, and recommends 19–24 lb. The documented colors are Royal Blue and Ice Blue. Yonex China gives China as the place of origin. A 4U Voltric coded VT-LITE or VTLT is the Lite, VT0F the 0F and VT0.1DG the 0.1 DG.
A buyer should confirm the item code, since the Ace, the Lite and the 0F print the same specification and are easily swapped in listings, and should check that the color is one of the two documented blues. For a collector the Ace matters mainly as the third 4U Hi-Flex Voltric of 2018, the one with the Control Support Cap.
