Widely regarded as the greatest badminton player of all time. By age 28, Lin Dan had completed the 'Super Grand Slam' — winning all nine major titles available in badminton, the only male player to achieve this. His rivalry with Lee Chong Wei across two Olympic finals defined a generation of the sport.
Why the gap from 2009 to 2014: in April 2009 China's national team switched its sponsorship from Yonex to Li-Ning, and Lin Dan played Li-Ning N90-series racquets until he signed with Yonex again in January 2015. His London 2012 Olympic gold and his 2009, 2011 and 2013 world titles were all won on Li-Ning — despite frequent claims crediting them to the Nanospeed 9900.
